Braves will win the division pretty easy. The Phillies, Marlins and maybe the Mets can only stay within 10 games of the Braves at the end of the year. Anything can happen though...

Re: The NL East, three team race?...
You must be kidding. The Braves will by no means be a pushover this year but to make a statement like the one above is just plain stupid. Mike Hampton? He needs a compass when he's on the mound to find the strike zone. Sheffield is about due for one of his famous half hearted seasons. Their offense is good but not great. Bottom line is the rest of the NLEast got better while the Braves stood still...or maybe regressed. See me in July. Oh, and yes I'm a Phillies fan.

That was way too funny, Renegade. Thanks for supplying me with an early morning laugh. You almost made me spit a mouthful of coffee out, though.
Man, the Mets are not going anywhere this year. You know it, I know it, and the 4 year old kid down the street knows it. Sure, they will be better than last year, but that is because they can't do any worse than they did last year. No way Piazza and Alomar play as bad as they did a year ago, but that isn't going to save them.
I have no idea what drug you took and decided that Mo Vaughn is "ready to conquer the world". How about he conquers his fat gut first? He will never again be the player he was in Boston.
They were active this off season, so I will give them credit for trying. I have always really liked Cliff Floyd, even when he was just coming up with Montreal. The Mets got a good player here, but his numbers are going to suffer a bit at Shea. He is a gap hitter, and that is not conducive to that stadium. Look for a decrease in extra base hits there.
Ahhh that brings us to Tommy Glavine. Honestly, I do not see him having a whole lot left in the tank. He is an excellent pitcher, but he has faltered lately. Last year, he was not the same Glavine. And the way he ended the season raises some doubts, IMO. He got absolutely shelled by the Giants in the NLDS. He will be ok, but not ace material as Mets fans are hoping.
I really want to like the Mets, but I just can't, at least in terms of how they will finish. I loved them in 99 because they showed a lot of grit and heart. Now, all I see are overpaid, underachieving, and in some cases, over the hill players. They are going to have one of the worst starting outfields in major league baseball, their defense looks to be terrible, and their pitching is still going to be a joke. You Mets fans had better hope that Astacio's injury isn't as serious as some are saying, and that Glavine can pull out some more magic.Comment
