Going to Cincy this weekend for Reds/Phillies

Going to the Saturday night game. Never been to Great American Ballpark, so I'm really looking forward to that. Anything I should be on the lookout for, scenery or hot spot wise?

Oh, and for those that didnt see my other thread, i'm proposing to my GF friday, so this is shaping up to be a pretty sweet weekend.

As far as the ballpark goes, go out to centerfield by the smokestacks. Usually a good crowd hanging out there. There's a new party-type area in rightfield (I've heard about it - haven't been to a game yet this season) that is pretty cool. I guess on this Friday night they're having College Night and some bands playing out there. It really isn't a bad ballpark. Still think they could have done more with it. By the way, the ushers have been okay over the years there. They guard the ones near home pretty well but you can move around all over and won't really get hassled unless it's a sold-out game or close to it.

If you're looking for fun things to do before or after the game over the weekend, take her down to Newport-On-the-Levee. Lots going on down there. Good eats and bars.

Newport is cool, but very generic. Basically all the places are chains so if you're looking for something more unique you may want to look at Mt. Adams, which is a small neighborhood on a hill above downtown. There are a bunch of bars, restaurants, etc but it has a lot of character. Its the kind of place your gf/hopefully fiancee would call "cute"....be forewarned, however, it is more of a yuppy crowd, so if thats not your thing......There is a bar (the Pavillion) with 5 stories that overlook the river and downtown and if its nice out it will be gorgeous.

        Have fun man

Very true about Newport. Depends on what the man, or the girl, is looking to do. I like going up to Mt. Adams but, like you mention, the people bug me sometimes, and parking up there sucks. The Pavillion is cool though. Chippered, if you or your girl likes Thai food, there's a great spot to hit up in Mt. Adams called Teak. I love that place.

Sounds good guys, thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to see what all we have time for, with her family, the game, and the post proposal activities... <----- Oh face, mmmhmmm.
