Well, Trax, I don't read the newspapers. But, however, I was listening to the interview that Mark Shapiro had recently. He was answering questions about the team. He was mentioning that 3B is just a stopgap for now. Shapiro had said that there was long-term thought about moving Victor Martinez to a new position. But, however, he added that there was no thought about that right now.

From what I hear Eric Wedge is really pleased with Bard and even said he could be a future 20 homer guy. As for Martinez, i am not sure if they are going to try the move though they should, he isn't very solid behind the plate at throwing runners out. He has a good arm but still doesn't get the ball transfered and out quick enough. In Baseball Weekly they have Phillips, Hafner, and Martinez as the top 10 rookies in the minors right now. (even though Hafner is 26) They also went on to say that Martinez will hit 300 the day he steps foot on a major league field

                  You're welcome, Trax.

Ckhoss29, you're right. Wedge is definitely very pleased with Bard. The main reason why he was already announced as the starting catcher for this season was because of his ability to call a game. They felt that game calling and being able to have a good throwing arm were the 2 most/more important things this year. Due to the many young pitchers that we'll be having this year. Since some young pitchers don't know how to hold runners that well.
