    4 Homers In A Row?

Not watching the game, but according to the box scores Boston hit 4 consecutive solo home runs. I don't believe I have ever seen or heard of that happening in a baseball game.

Interestingly enough, JD Drew hit the 2nd in both cases.

First time in Red Sox history.
First time in the American League since 1964.
Only the 2nd time in history 4 HR's in a row have been given up by the same pitcher. The first time, Terry Francona's father hit one of them. Happened in 1963.

These HR's were all friggin bombs. Varitek's was probably the weakest and it still went over the monster seats.

Not to take anything away from this, but that was remarkable. It happened in the bottom of the 9th, down 9-5, in the middle of a pennant race, against one of the game's best closers, Hoffman.

And one of the game's most mediocre relievers Jon Adkins.

I still think Hoffman should've still came in after the deficit was cut down to three.

It was insane. Just sitting here watching it, after Manny and Drew went back to back and Lowell was up, I was thinking "damn, that'd be sick if he hit one out too". Next pitch comes and he crushes it over the monster. After Varitek hit his I went crazy, and I hate both teams involved. You definitely don't see that every day.

                  That was some crazy stuff!

I still think the Dodgers' feat was more remarkable tho.

I feel bad for Chase Wright tho. The guy just got hammered and hopefully it doesn't ruin him as a pitcher.

2 Were off Hoffman and 2 were off Jon Adkins.

The ones tonight were hammered though...When Manny unloads on a ball, damn, power to all fields.

I was just going crazy. Me being a Red Sox fan makes it even better, but like JJLinn said, even if you hate the teams, it was amazing.

My wife fell in love with baseball this weekend. We sat and watched the whole series together, and she became familiar with all the players, and then to have that happen last night, and how it was Francona's birthday and how his dad was a part of the same thing happening in 1963, just made her really appreciate what baseball is. Great stuff.

It was definitely impressive that all four went out, and I absolutely love how much ESPN uses the K-Zone during their broadcast. It adds a lot the game, IMO.

Wright just made four terrible pitches in a row. Three hanging sliders and an inside change up to a RHB at Fenway is going to be trouble. I think he'll be okay though in the long run. It seemed to me like he thought he was out of the inning once he got two outs. Then he started tossing meatballs right over the plate.

Agreed. I am a big fan of K-Zone. And ESPN's HD broadcasts are gorgeous.

Their only problem is Joe Morgan.
