Pirezynski for Nathan would have been horrible enough, add in Liriano(if he comes back healthy) and it is easily one of the more lopsided trades in recent memory. The Giants could also have used Boof as well. What a horrible judge of talent from an organization that has made its mission to stockpile pitching talent the entire decade.

Yes, it seems like Minnesota eventually got the better end of the deal.

I feel tho that the White Sox got the world series out of it, Sure player to player Pierzynski was not the main reason they won but he was a part they needed to bring in that world series 2 years ago. I'm sure the White Sox are not hurting much b/c of this deal.

The White Sox didn't make the deal. The Giants did.

Well then I take back what I said and the Giants screwed up there very very bad. I knew Joe Nathan was on the giants but that did not click in my mind.

              Great trade for the Twins!

It is a really bad trade, especially when all we needed was a good closer the last 3 years. Nathan would have given us some division titles and maybe a world series. we have lost so many games in the late innings over the past 3 years. So yes this trade hurt. Also, Nathan told the Giants they would be sorry and boy was he right. I still feel like the Giants GM should have been fired for this move. Especially when you realize if we had a good closer we could have been a threat the last couple years.

This was probably the only really bad trade i can remember Brian Sabean making since he has been GM of the Giants.

Sure one can say that, but still this is a big mistake. Especially when you realize how bad we needed a closer when Nenn retire. I know you have know why of knowing what will happen, but still some one should get fired! lol

I don't think the Giants would have looked at Nathan as closer since they were always trying to use him as a starter.

You never know though, Armando Benitez's contract is up after this season and Joe Nathan will also be free agent. Perhaps Sabean can get Nathan back.

I loved that, but I doubt it, he was pretty upset being traded. But with him and the Starters we have and Lincecscum. Damn that would be a great pitching staff. Oh well, just venting!

Most lopsided trade of the last 10 years.

It was an especially bad deal because the Giants had so much young pitching you would think they would be a little better as evaluating talent. They are still in pretty good shape now with Cain looking like he may become a true ace, Zito will be a 2 or 3 pitcher for the whole contract, Lowry is fine as a back of the rotation guy and Lincecscum coming up thorugh the minors. But there isn't a team in the majors that couldn't find a use for two extras starters(one of which is a 1 or 2 guy when healthy) and shutdown closer.
