Baseball Game Frustration (a well deserved rant)

I am really begining to get frustrated with the current crop of console baseball games. Even though games like World Series Baseball and MVP Baseball show great promise I am sure they will all do the thing that all these games always do:

No way to save a new roster file where you can edit ratings and make player trades so that they can reflect the current year.

Why do game makers do this? Easy. So you buy next years game. Think about this. From the time of the great Baseball Pro series from Sierra there has always been the option to adjust players stats and make trades, even set the real lineups and pitching rotations for all the teams. Then save that roster not only as a default roster but at least be able to save that roster as a set for which you can use for exhibition games or to start a season.

It would also be nice to start a season and be able to manage more than one team as well.

I hope some of the moderators look at this post because everytime there is a damm interview someone always forgets to ask this question. Then the consumer pays for it later.

I feel that every baseball game should have this as a minimum before it gets out the door. I know High Heat has this but I would prefer that MVp World Series or All Star take this approach as well.

Does anyone know if any of these three will have the ability to make these edits??

WSB 2k3 will. If you mean what I think you mean, it'll be just like the option in NFL2k3. This is my prediction: There will be an option in the main menu "Roster Manager"

Once there, you can edit - team rosters, lineups, rotations, and create a player.

Highlight team rosters and you will then be able to go to any team, select a player, and edit just about anything you want about him such as number, team, ratings, position, appearance (to some extent) and maybe even his name.

Keep in mind, this is only a prediction based on the options of NFL2k3 and information provided in the interview with project manager David Perkinson on this site.

This way, if you want, you can keep WSB2k3 for years to come, just simply adjust rosters, ratings, and new players according to the league's development throughout the years.

    Hope this answered your question/frustration.

No, I do not work for Sega.
