The baseball gods hate us.

Reed Johnson out until June.
Gregg Zaun out for a while too.
Glaus gets hurt and returns.
Frank Thomas looks like a bust.
Zambrano pitches like garbage and goes on the DL.
Chacin goes on the DL.

And now this surreal 24 hour span where:
BJ Ryan undergoes TJ surgery.
Roy Halladay comes down with Appendicitis
Troy Glaus pulls up lame running to first base in the first inning vs Tampa tonight.
The Jays have lost 9 straight and are well on their way to 10 in a row.

Has any team ever had a more disheartening opening 6 weeks to the season?

Nick Swisher hurt his hamstring and missed a few games. Bobby Crosby has missed a few games. Dan Johnson just came off the DL a week ago.

So the Blue Jays aren't alone.

You can add Troy Glaus to the list with his foot injury now.

The only team that has had anything similar to this have been this year's Yankees who've had 10 different starters pitching for them in the same season.

I don't like this talk about cursed teams. I'm a Red Sox fan, and heard it all my life until 2004. Now it's suddenly gone?

What about teams like the Brewers? What if they go on to win their first ever World Series this year? Is the curse lifted?

No doubt, winning the WS in 2004 was extra exciting because it removed the whole curse thing, but I think the only reason why the Red Sox get the curse treatment is because they are a popular team.

The same goes for the Cubs.

Atleast it's only May, and alot can change. The Cards have had some pretty ****ty luck also. Hancock accident, terrible hitting, Carp out 3 months, ect. And it's partly the Blue Jays fault on some, for overpaying for Thomas, who I felt was pretty much done, and last year was a fluke.

There is no competition for the Cubs. Almost all great closers get hurt after a few years of dominance. The Blue Jays should have seen that coming...

The rest of the injuries / sucking is pretty much baseball.

The Cubs have had some bad luck too, so have the Cards losing two players to dying. That is pretty bad too.
