    Hancock's father is suing...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2881602

Mike Shannon's Restaurant, owned by the longtime Cardinals broadcaster who starred on three World Series teams in the 1960s, is a defendant in the case along with Shannon's daughter, Patricia Shannon Van Matre, the restaurant manager.

Other defendants include Eddie's Towing, the company whose flatbed tow truck was struck by Hancock's sport utility vehicle in the early hours of April 29; tow truck driver Jacob Edward Hargrove; and Justin Tolar, the driver whose stalled car on Interstate 64 was being assisted by Hargrove.

    It's a joke... Read this:

Authorities said the 29-year pitcher had a blood alcohol content of nearly twice the legal limit when he crashed into the back of the tow truck. He was also speeding and using a cell phone and wasn't wearing a seat belt, police chief Joe Mokwa said after the accident. Marijuana was also found in the SUV.
It was Josh Hancock's fault. I mean... so many red flags with his driving... how could you even say it wasn't his fault at all? Sure the tow truck and the stalled car shouldn't have been in the road, but I'm sure things like this happen. Sometimes you can't get the car off the road for whatever reason.

I know his father is probably trying to get something... but he's probably not going to win in this case.

      Bingo.

My car broke down last week in the middle of the road, and we didn't get it out of the way for like 5-10 minutes.

Hey Mr. Hancock, it's not anyone else's fault but your son's that he was an alcoholic and couldn't have the common sense to call a taxi or provide some other means of transportation for himself in case he supports his destructive and worthless habit.

        Pathetic.

          Exactly!

I think it's been somewhat built into the American conscience that whatever happens... it's not my (or my son's) fault. It's always their's. Pointing fingers...

          It's a true shame.

Wow, this is just horrible. Way to dredge up your son's name again in a bad light.

He forgot to sue Tony LaRussa for making Hancock think it was acceptable to drive drunk.

He was drunk, speeding, without a seatbelt, AND they caught him with drugs?

                LOL.

Correct me if I am wrong, I don't drink at bars or restaurants, but aren't they require by Law to stop you from drinking if you had enough?

There's only so much you can do as a bartender when you've got other customers to cater to.

OK, but can't you stop serving him. Don't get me wrong it is own fault he drove the car, but there could be something to this law suit.

The only aspect of the lawsuit that holds any water is the serving of drinks and such. A reponsible bartender would've stopped serving at some point or at the very least insist that he call a cab.

Yep, so there might be a case. Who knows.

I feel bad for the man, he lost a son at a way too early age... But this sickens me... I wonder who is giving him advice.
