Re: Barry being Barry... (what else is new)
I love how there are some people who think Bonds is a victim. He brought all of this on himself, he treats so many people like garbage, thinks he is above the game that made him who he is and yet there are people who continue to stick up for him for some reason. Bonds hasnt been caught cheating, although he admitted to taking something without his knowledge, which I dont believe for an instant, he treats people like crap and then has press conferences talking about how hes been beatin down by the press, well Barry you brought it on yourself, so deal with it. After reading the book, "Love Me, Hate Me" by Jeff Pearlman I really feel like he deserves all the negative attention he is getting and if only 25% of that book is in fact true, my opinion still wouldnt change.
EDIT- Bonds is getting bad pub for this, but it isnt like other players havent gotten bad pub for making selfish decisions, Doug Mientkiewicz got torn apart when he was going to keep the ball from the World Series I thought.Last edited by The Chef; 05-31-2007, 05:45 PM.Comment

Re: Barry being Barry... (what else is new)
I agree that Bonds does treat the media very rudely. But does he have some obligation to be their buddy? Maybe he doesn't wanna sit and BS with the media after a game. That's his decision.
The media has no right to trash him the way they do just because he doesn't provide them cute little sound bytes that they eat up. I do think he did steroids but so did a whole bunch of other players who don't get nearly the heat Barry does just because they act nice to the media.
Mientkiewicz was keeping a ball that symbolized a team accomplishment. That was selfish. Nothing wrong with Barry wanting to keep HIS memorabilia.Comment

I don't feel sorry for Barry, or the media.
In the end it's the fans getting the **** end of the stick, and neither the media or Bonds gives a hoot.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

EDIT- Bonds will make the HOF and I believe he should, but he may not make it first ballot just so the voters can make some sort of point out of all of this. Lets face it, Bonds was a great player prior to the homerun outburst in SF, he was a star and had he not hit so many homeruns in SF I still think he was worthy of the hall.Last edited by The Chef; 05-31-2007, 06:42 PM.Comment

Re: Barry being Barry... (what else is new)
The media looks at themselves as some kind of victim because of Bonds' treatment of them. For years they have ridiculed Bonds. Way before there were even any steroid talk about him, the media killed him just because he was mean to them. Media is supposed to be fair and unbiased which the majority have failed in doing.
It doesn't matter if he says he wants his name to live on or not; he knows and we all know it will without any effort from him or anyone else. Who say the Hall is the only place that can display the ball though? His ego is big enough that he could certainly create a museum to himself. Maybe he wants it displayed at AT&T. Or maybe he just wants to pass the stuff onto to his children. Who really cares? Once again, it is his decision.
Don't think that because I am Giants fan that I don't know about his problems or will try to say he is a saint. I have read Game of Shadows which is just like the Pearlman book but is set up more as 50% Bonds and 50% steroids in baseball. I agree he is an ******* which disappoints me because I idolized him as a child. Being fair though, the media has given him a raw deal. They are supposed to be unbiased but their bias against him shines through all the time.Comment
