Whats up fella's, big sports fan here, but not much of a baseball fan. I was wondering about why everytime Bonds hits a HR, the dude stands at home plate admiring it like a painter does a picture....then decides to run the bases. I am aware of certain "unwritten rules" in baseball, and I thought that this was one of them. Just wish for once someone would dot his a&$!

Although in his defense he wouldn't stand unless he knew it was gone, his most recent home run was very strange that he did that awkward pose hoping that it would go out, and IMO it was idiotic. What if it missed going out and the center fielder missed it? A 399 foot single? I don't think so. He would definitely hear that from the fans.
There's nothing wrong with admiring a home run, but at least he decides to continue the basepaths as he's watching it. Remember Manny in that game when he stood at home plate until it went out?
And IMO I despise watching when players know that it's out and then they don't watch the ball. Like, instead, they focus their vision on their bat flip and maybe pointing to their dugout or something. That's even worse.
Bonds does get hit, though. And you're right... I don't know why he doesn't get hit more often. True, but he does have a point. If you did that looking and staring at a HR against Gibson he would hit you at your next at bat! lol That is how they used to do it. I still think it is wrong to stand and stare. Just run and act like you have done it before. That is onething I like about Matt Williams when he hit one he would start running the bases.Comment

I never understood getting mad at players who stand and stare at their homers. Now if they start doing backflips and the cabbage patch, then I would get it.
Besides, why should a pitcher get mad? If you don't throw such a dumb pitch, you wouldn't get a home run hit off of you. Your fault, dummy.Comment

I've always thought that posing was bush, but I think if pitchers started throwing up "K" signs with their hands or pointing to the bench every time they strike a guy out, maybe batters might quit because they would certainly get clowned more often then they would do the clowning.Jordan Mychal Lemos

So pitchers can celebrate but hitters can't?
I don't care. Like already mentioned, maybe the pitcher shouldn't have F'd up and he wouldn't have to be "embarrassed" by the staring.
Also, why do so few people care about football players who celebrate after a touchdown? People love when Chad Johnson has some elaborate celebration. At least be consistent.Comment
