The list could go on, I would take Morneau over Youkilis though, Morneau is doing it without much around him other then Hunter and maybe Cuddyer where as the entire Boston lineup is potent.
Youkilis is batting .350 and has 70 points of OBP over Morneau.

I see NL SS as the closest position. And as said earlier, Ordonez deserves to be the #1 OF vote getter.

My solution for the fans voting the wrong players into the game is this.

Let the fans vote. After the vote is finalized, allow the Commisioner to remove one player from each league, that the fans voted in for one player at that position that is deserving.

Then, allow the manager of each team the same "veto" rule. This will at least eliminate 2 players on each league that the fans may have voted in that werent deserving.
Polanco is not having as good of a season as Upton or Roberts. And not that being the best #2 hitter would really mean much, but Jeter is a much better #2 hitter.

              I agree about Ordonez.

The guy has a freakin .485 on base percentage. That would be the highest in the majors since 2004. The last player not named Bonds in the NL to finish with an OBP that high was a guy named Arky Vaughn for Pittsburgh in 1935. Oh yeah, .577 SLG. I hate the guy too, but get serious here.

You forgot to mention his 8 fewer home runs and 15 fewer RBI from a power/run producing position.

Gotta love it when people assume.

My personal feelings about Bonds have nothing to do with me not thinking he should be a starter in the All Star Game.

The RBI's don't really mean much considering Youk has been hitting in the 2 slot most of the year while Morneau has been batting 4th or 5th. His SLG is only about 20 points less even though he has 8 fewer HR's.

Both are having good years, but I'd give the slight edge to Youk at this point.

Polanco and Roberts are having similar seasons with the exception of stealing bases, I'd say it's a toss-up. Upton has some nice power numbers and some steals, but is horrendous in the field. He doesn't make enough difference at the plate to offset his fielding, IMHO.

For the hell of it...the stats:

                          Polanco: 1 HR, 30 RBI, 2 SB, .335 AVG, .382 OBP, .419 SLG, .801 OPS, 0 errors
                          Roberts: 2 HR, 17 RBI, 19 SB, .320 AVG, .413 OBP, .420 SLG, .833 OPS, 3 errors
                          Upton: 8 HR, 29 RBI, 11 SB, .318 AVG, .402 OBP, .542 SLG, .944 OPS, 11 errors

Based just on those numbers, I'd probably give Roberts the nod, with Polanco a close 2nd, and as snepp said, Upton taking a hit because of his defense.

I'd give the slight edge to Youkilis as well, just making the point that power and run production can't be ignored for the first base position. You can't cheapen Morneau's homerun and RBI totals simply because Youkilis hits in the 2 spot.

Should also add that Youkilis leads the 1B position in Win Shares and Runs Created, probably VORP as well.
