Hall or Not?
Here we go fellas I just saw somewhere recently that Jeff Kent was a lock to go to Cooperstown. This caught me by suprise because I never felt he was HOF worthy. He does have 4 Silver Sluggers, 4 All-Star apperances, 1 MVP including finishing top 10 in 3 other MVP votes, 353 HRs, 1412 RBIs, .503 Slugg %, and 2240 hits. He did not really turn it on until he turned 29. His defense is suspect to add.

Re: Hall or Not?
Yeah he will be a in the hall. I still don't know what I think about this position getting you in the hall. I think if you have great numbers it shouldn't matter what position you play. If he was a 3rd base or outfield would he even be consider?Comment

Re: Hall or Not?
Compare Kent to other players at his position. How many second basemen that you know average 35 HRs-100 RBIs in their prime?I write things on the Internet.

Re: Hall or Not?
Yeah I hear you, but I don't think that is fair to someone that plays in the outfield and has the same numbers as Kent. I never got the argument that because he played 2nd base that made him better. Oh well. I think it should be base off numbers, for every position. One more thing most 2nd basemen are little guys, but Kent is not he is about 220 and 6'2''. That does have some merit to way he is putting up power numbers over his career.Last edited by Scottdau; 06-05-2007, 09:02 PM.Comment

Re: Hall or Not?
Using that logic, there would be like 5 non-outfielders/first-basemen in the Hall.Comment

Re: Hall or Not?
Yeah I know, but I still feel that you should be base off your numbers, not what position you played. Like hit 3000 in for sure. Hit 500 in for sure. Or win gold gloves. Or bat over 320 for you career.Comment

Re: Hall or Not?
I don't know. I just feel this position thing is not a good base to use. but I hear you guys. The reason they used this is so the little guys could get into the hall. So o'course Kent is going to have huge numbers for a second basemen he is not a little guy. Oh well, I just see it different.Comment
