Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
He had a good year in 2001 I think it was, but since then he hasn't been good at all.
He's playing good right now but he's only played 30 games so we'll see.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
Yep, '01 was a very solid year for Guzman. He batted .302, hit 14 triples (after hitting 20 the year before, and finished 16th in the MVP voting.Comment

Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
Christian Guzman just had one of those weird years in Minnesota where he got it going with the bat but he was always a "all glove/no bat" type of guy in my books. I liked his style in the field tho.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

So it seems the Triple is Guzman's contribution to his teams offense.Comment

Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
A big reason he's been playing so much better is he approach at the plate - so far this year he's walked 14 times and struck out 19 (through 36 games) - compate that 2005 when he walked only 25 times in 145 games"Darth Vader doesn't cry, Peter."

Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
That's only nine walks off his pace from '05 then, which only makes his isoOBP a mere .016 points higher.Comment

Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
2005- walk every 18.24 at-bats; every 5.68 games
2007- every 10.36 AB; every 2.57 games
If he walked every 10.36 AB in 2005 he would have had 44 walks, not 25; if he walked every 2.57 games insted of ever 5.68 he would have walked 55 times, so actually he is on pace to (roughly) double the number of walks he had in 2005.
Not to mention this year he is striking out every 7.6 AB instead of every 6."Darth Vader doesn't cry, Peter."

Re: Remember Christian Guzman?
I didn't realize how good Guzman was doing this year, until he came back to the Metrodome and hit everything the Twins threw at him. He's a great defensive player and if he can continue to get on base, his speed makes him a constant threat to steal.Colorado Avalanche (NHL)
