Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
He's eleven hits away from 3,000 for his career and he's been a solid player for most of his career but he's never been spectacular. He's a career .282 hitter with an OBP of .365 and a slugging slugging percentage of .435. He's hit 286 homers and stolen 412 bases. However he's only hit over .300 four of twenty years in the majors and at this point in his career it's obvious he's only starting because he's so close to reaching the 3,000 hit milestone. I'm not really sure how good his defense has been throughout his career, maybe an Astros' fan can chime in on it.

Re: Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
Hmm he's borderline to me with a very slight nod to go in the Hall if only for the fact that he's played so many positions pretty well throughout his career. (C, 2B, OF) It's pretty tough seeing him decline so badly the last couple years tho and I do indeed hope this is his last season in the big leagues or else his reputation will be tarnished.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
I think he should get in even besides the numbers. He should for his longevity and the fact that he's played with one team this whole time. In an era where players move around constantly and get traded constantly, he's been a model citizen and has been a damn good ball player for 20 years now.Comment

I think he gets in though just because of 3,000 hits and he has been pretty consistent. He's just one of those quiet guys that always produced.Comment

Re: Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
The vast majority of his numbers were put up as a 2B. He'll get in easily, probably first ballot. As will Roberto Alomar and likely Jeff Kent.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
Looking up "similar batters" on Baseball Reference, you get:
1. Robin Yount (850) *
2. Roberto Alomar (824)
3. Joe Morgan (823) *
4. Paul Molitor (795) *
5. Lou Whitaker (783)
6. Ryne Sandberg (774) *
7. Cal Ripken (764) *
8. Brooks Robinson (759) *
9. Charlie Gehringer (757) *
10. Vada Pinson (752)
Seven of those guys are already in the Hall, and Alomar will be. So despite the fact that Biggio has been clinging to life the past few years in a desperate pursuit of 3,000 hits, he should definitely get into the HoF.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
To me, Craig Biggio is without a doubt HOF worthy. He plays the game right. Something that very few players do today.
He battles and gives it his all. He is one of the best players of the past 15-20 years to me.
I respect guys who may not have as much talent as other players, but they give it their all and make the most of what they have.Comment

Re: Is Craig Biggio A HOFer?
I'd say he would considering some other numbers:
he has an outside chance of getting 300 homers (8 seasons at 20+)
he has over 400 SBs (including a 50 steal season)
1800 runs (scored 100 runs or more 8 times, scored 90 or more an additional 4 times)
1100 RBIs
4 gold gloves (all second base).
We're talking about a man who averaged something like 24 stolen bases a year from the 2B position primarily. I would kill for that in my fantasy league from my 2nd baseman who wouldn't kill my average, hit 70 or so RBIs and score 90+ runs.Comment
