John Daniels contract extension

Looks like they extended his contract for 1 year, so through 2009. Good move by the Rangers? They have the worst record in the majors, the pitching is more of a joke than usual, and the defense has been horrible. Some of the trades he's made seem to be horrible. The only good thing so far is Sammy seems to be hitting better than people expected.

People keep saying that he can be an all-star GM one day but I'm not sure. If he does end up being good, then I'm sure he will go to another organization just like we do to all our good players. One interesting thing that came out of this press conference was

They acknowledged that the Rangers will have to be a "seller" in the upcoming trade market leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.

Everyone and their mom knew they were going to have a fire sell but this is the first time the organization has admitted it. Guess I'm wondering if I'm being to much doom and gloom or is there a sliver of hope?

Yeah he really hasn't achieved anything so far. I suppose they are extending him because they feel he hasn't been given enough of a chance? I forget how long he has been around, like 1 season? He's been pretty craptacular so far, but maybe he can turn it around with 1 or 2 more seasons.

That Adrian Gonzalez + Chris Young for Adam Eaton deal was atrocious though...

This is a complete joke, he needs to be fired. There hasn't been one good trade made by him yet and I don't expect there to be one.

Bad move. Although they didnt have much of a choice. It was to late to bring in a new guy, since they will be sellers this year.
