6 OF 7 for the last place Rangers. Looks like the bats are finally coming around. a bit too late though.

That being said, if gagne is serious about staying on after this season, by all means they should keep the guy. It just wouldn't surprise me if gagne used this season to improve his stock league-wide and then sign on with either a contender or whoever throws the most money at his feet. I believe the guy has the intention of resigning with Texas, but we all know that money can render good intentions irrelevant.
If CJ Wilson ever becomes the closer of the Rangers, I'm never cheering for this team again. It seems like he always screws us up in the games I watch him pitch in, he never gets a 1,2,3 inning, so why make him a closer? They would probably put either Francisco or Benoit in the closing role first IF they traded both Otsuka and Gagne, which isn't likely to happen.

I still stick with Teixeira not being traded, because the Rangers are going to want way too much in return for what teams are willing to give. Their asking price might not be too high, just too much for teams to budge.

Bats have been around for a bit. The piching has just gone from the worst in the majors to average, allowing us to stay in the game past the 1st inning.

But I can't imagine they're gonna wanna deal with him past '08 being a Boras client, and his value is still high. Don't want to keep him around and stuff unhappy. When you're team is this bad I don't think anyone's untradeable. The only guy I would keep is Michael Young who's pretty much the face of the franchise. As much as they hope'd it would be "Hammerin'" Hank Blalock or Mark Texeira, it's been the unselfish play, and professional hitting that have led Young to become the only Ranger I personally give a damn about anymore.

Rangers definitely need to give us Otsuka or Gagne

Gagne's said he doesn't want to be traded to Detroit...or Cleveland...or any team that has any chance to win.

Otsuka, I'd like...but apparently the Rangers are idiots and want Maybin in return.

Gagne should want to come to Detroit, why rot in mediocrity when you can win, hell it's a 1 year deal, he could just leave after the season.

Whatever they do, let's hope it's something worthwhile ... I for one am sick and tired of having all the hoopla and hype turn into squat during the season.

We need young talent in here, especially pitching!! I had hopes for McCarthy & Tehada, but those hopes are getting slimmer and slimmer as the season progresses ... maybe next year, maybe next year ....

I think it's his feeling that the Rangers went ahead and gave him a chance, as well as made sure he was healthy and not rushing him. Of course if he finishes out the season a Ranger and saves say 30 games, Hicks will almost certainly open the wallet for him.

Keep Young, Kinsler, and Loe. I don't give a damn what they do with the rest of the guys. Teixeira is a work-horse, but I'd rather trade him, seeing how we're going nowhere with him.

Re: The next move for the Texas Rangers?

ok, here is the REAL reason Gagne has a limited no-trade clause that lists almost ALL contenders. The reason is so that anyone of those teams that wants to acquire him will have to re-negociate his contract for him to waive the no-trade clause.

What this means, is that Gagne wouldnt necessarily be opposed to a trade to a team like the Tigers, or the Indians, or any other contender. It means that Gagne and his agent have put him in a position where he can capitalize on such a move, by forcing the acquiring team to redo his current contract to his liking, in return for waiving the no trade clause
