Re: Pirates fans to walk out of game
I defy you to find a worse sports franchise over the last 15 years. We always hear about how sad the Detroit Lions are and how terrible Matt Millen is, but I have never seen anything about the Nuttings and Dave Littlefield on espn.Comment

Re: Pirates fans to walk out of game
If Pirates fans really want to make a statement instead of buying tickets and walking out of the game (in which case the team already has your money), Don't buy tickets at all.
If you want to hit them, hit them where it hurts: the box office.Comment

Either way, the Pirates need Mark Cuban as their owner.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Pirates fans to walk out of game
they're still buying a ticket... it's a dumb idea. Do a written protest or something... but supporting the owners with ticket sales isn't going to get their attention.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Pirates fans to walk out of game
I agree with the theory that they should protest outside the stadium instead of walking into the stadium. I've never understood that part as once inside, the fans will have paid for parking, a ticket and most likely concessions. A good chunk of that money is going back to the Owners. Why protest the way the Pirates spend (or don't spend in this instance) their money by giving more to them? Absurd.
However, remember this point - if the Pirates start losing attendance and revenue even more than they already are, the sum they receive in revenue sharing is just going to become larger. Therefore the Ownership group (led by the cheap, profiteering Nutting family) is going to get theirs one way or another. It's really a lose, lose situation for the fans.
The worst part is.....the public paid for PNC Park with their own tax dollars. Not the city, not the Ownership group.....the public. A vote was made whether or not the public would fund 2 new stadiums and the vote was a very huge no. However, the public officials put it through anyhow. Now, we're left with a beautiful ballpark and owners who have no interest in winning, but only care about fattening their wallets.Comment

Re: Pirates fans to walk out of game
Cuban actually grew up in Pittsburgh and claims to be a huge Pirate fan.
It's a pipe dream though as Cuban already inquired about purchasing the Pirates last year and was told that they aren't for sale. It's no wonder. Why would the current owners sell the team when they're making a nice profit off of them without doing much of anything? They nearly make a profit solely on revenue sharing. Makes me sick....Comment
