"In Franchise Mode you have complete control over budgets, disabled lists, rotations, lineups, defense, and inactive rosters. You can sign rookies, release players to free agency, and make uneven trades so long as you have the bankroll to do it."

"Operation Sports: Will there be a career mode, if so what makes it better than the other baseball games?
Brent/Jason: If by “career mode” you mean Franchise, then yes we have it. MVP Baseball 2003 has a completely new take on Franchise Mode, focusing on your career as a major league coach. You have a series of Team Goals that must be accomplished, and you will be graded on them after each season. Users will have the option to take jobs with higher tier teams if they do well, but may face the pink slip if they do poorly. Take on the Yankees as your first team, but the expectations will be much higher than they would be for the Tigers or Royals.
The game also features a Team Momentum Meter, which measures how well your team is playing and affects simulation results. Each game has an importance level, or game impact, that determines how much Momentum you stand to win or lose. The best part is there is an “intervention” feature where you can simulate games by half-inning, and jump in to play it out yourself if you don’t like the way things are going!

There is also a comprehensive roster and contract system, as well as off-season and draft. One final feature that we’re very pleased with is the first-ever real-time sports ticker that runs across the bottom of every management screen. And its not just scores, either. It is beyond cool to make a trade or send a guy down, and then seconds later see that news scroll across on the ticker!"

those are quotes from the interview on this site about MVP, obviously no franchise mode....(sarcasm)....not to mention all the videos of franchise mode and stuff....

Re: This has to be the worst preview EVER...

in it's defense (even though it doesnt deserve it) the article was finished.

It's big news when a top-selling (though awful) sports franchise changes its name. EA's baseball series has gone from fluke (Triple Play) to front-runner (MVP Baseball) overnight. And EA is overhauling the entire game. Instead of each game turning into a veritable home run derby with each swing launching 500-foot bombs, MVP's all-new batter-pitcher interface upgrades Triple Play's by a good, oh, 2,000 percent (at least the hardcore types will say so). While there's no Franchise mode, EA Sports is obviously sending a message: It wants the No. 1 PS2 baseball game.

you have to look to the right to see the rest. poor website design really.

terrible review too. terrible website. i guess when you put the two together you get, "that website makes terrible reviews."
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

It says that a real time sports ticker is in MVP...I was just wondering, does anybody know if The Bottom Line will be on WSB? I've seen screens of the User Records menu, where the bottom where it has the help info, the screen looks like the Bottom Line thing down there...except instead of having trades and scores it says press Y or whatever to do certain things...anybody know if they actually put the Bottom Line on there to pop up during games and tell you the scores of others?
