    Best pitching rotation

Who-as of right now has the best/most balanced rotation in your opinion? this question just came up with some friends of mine and I had nothing to add being a Dodgers fan(I just basically follow their games).

In the AL I'd think it'd be the Athletics. I don't keep tabs of the AL so I might be wrong. For the NL it's the Padres despite Germano's game today. David Wells has the worst ERA in the rotation at around 4.3 or something, Greg has an ERA that's been going between 3.6 and 3.9, Chris Young and Jake Peavy are 1-2 in the NL in ERA and Germano now has a 3.9 ERA. It's too bad this rotation has no offense to support them.

A's and Padres are very good choices.

        I don't see how a healthy Schilling, and a dominant Beckett/Dice-K along with a solid Tavarez/Wakefield couldn't be considered.

I'd pick Young and Peavy anchoring that SD rotation though

LOL, well that's an awful lot of hypotheticals.

In the AL it's a close call between the Tigers, A's, and Angels, but I think the Angels come out on top.

In the NL I'd take the Padres over anyone else's rotation in baseball.

Well who doesn't have hypotheticals? I'd like to see some numbers, I'm pretty sure Sox starters have the most IP.

                Athletics
                32-25, 3.25 ERA, 85 GS, 3 CG, 1 SHO, 525.2 IP, 478 H, 43 HRA, 190 ER, 176 BB, 337 K, 1.24 WHIP, 7.84 WPA

                Red Sox
                44-26, 4.04 ERA, 84 GS, 2 CG, 1 SHO, 519.2 IP, 511 H, 51 HRA, 233 ER, 163 BB, 409 K, 1.30 WHIP, 3.12 WPA

Oakland's staff is better to this point in the season. And I'll see your healthy Curt Schilling and raise with a healthy Rich Harden (if there is such a thing).

                  NL: Padres
                  AL: Tigers

Now if we were talking best pitching staff the Red Sox would get my vote in the AL.

WPA is a nice metric, but unless I'm misunderstanding how it's formulated, the Red Sox offense hurts their staff's WPA because it is largely situational dependent.
