I can't believe Lincecum is getting so much press. The guy will tear his arm up within a year or two, but then again, we're talking about American media. *sigh*

Cubs Giants Series
Game 1 is tonight, with Tim Lincecum, now nicked named "The Franchise" :y4: vs Rich Hill and the Cubs. Barry Bonds decided to take a day off because he's an *******, so it'll be another 1 sided game today. Hopefully the Cubs don't play down to the level of their opponent tonight.

Re: Cubs Giants Series
From watching his first MLB start, Lincecum was given the nickname by his teammates in Spring Training, I believe.
But yeah, I have no idea why anyone would pay attention to a kid who didn't lose a game in the minors, while sporting a sub 2.00 ERA and striking out well over 1/inning. Oh, and he made it to the majors after 13 minor league starts. Those type of guys grow on trees. -

Re: Cubs Giants Series
I can't say I'm an expert on the history of pitching prospects and their average time before injury, but is that really your point? Lincecum should be ignored because he is a young pitcher who came up so fast? If so, I guess that's fine for you, but I'm rooting for the guy. He is exciting to watch and has the stuff to become the best pitcher in his league. Whether he realizes that potential is anyone's guess.Comment

Re: Cubs Giants Series
Thats because most people don't throw like the kid, he's never had arm soreness in his whole life. Can any other pitcher say anything like that? His delivery will keep him in the majors for a long time.Comment

Re: Cubs Giants Series
My problem is this kid is so short throwing 100 mph, and yet we just went through AJ Burnett, Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, Barry Zito, Matt Clement, Carl Pavano, Joe Johnson, Anibal Sanchez, Liriano, Harden, etc. These kids get hyped up, with their college coaches saying the guy's a prodigy. And then all of a sudden you never hear from them again. Well, you at least hear about them failing their rehab stints.
You would think we would have learned by now to hype up a young kid throwing hard. Of course, Lincecum will be the exception... of course.Comment

Re: Cubs Giants Series
I can see both sides of this argument. Everytime I read something about him in Baseball America, I see managers, players, and scouts saying their afraid his violent arm action will lead to his arm falling off. However, for the time being you cant argue with the results. So, I guess we all just wait and see. For now, the guy is impressive and I hope him nothing but success for the sake of the game. I just hope the same thing I saw happen to Kerry Wood doesnt happen to him. Hopefully the Giants continue to handle him with kid gloves.Comment

Who just did take me out to the ball game? I thought NASCAR was over and done with. I really have no desire to listen to these guys in the booth. Where's Jeff Garlin?Comment

Did Woods have a violent motion like Tim? I thought he had a nice easy motion like Roger C?Comment
