Best ball physics?
Which game has the best ball physics? HH IMO has the worst even though its fun to play and has realistic stats but you can one hop the outfield wall from about 100 feet. With all of its flaws, ASB had good ball physics last year while WSB looked pretty good. Any thoughts?Tags: None -

pitchingcoach I love asb but agree there were too many of the same hits but not to worry asb has supposeably added many more types of hits this year.Comment

Re: Best ball physics?
First of all, ball physics and hit variety are two completely different things.
Ball physics has to do with how the ball interacts with its environment, i.e. how it bounces off grass, dirt, the outfield walls, or how it rolls. Ball physics also include movement on pitches.
I thought ASB actually did a good job on the physics last year, with the exception of the pitches. While the curveball had a nice tight spin on it, there was not enough break, especially for someone like Barry Zito.
For hit variety, I would say High Heat did the best there. They had many different types of hits, including liners, normal grounders, shots in the gap, down the lines, dribblers, etc. The other games didn't do it quite as well last year, IMO.Comment

Re: Best ball physics?
I agree that HH had more hit variety but in ASB the ball looked better reacting to the field and outside of the field. The ball in HH looked to have a physics system independant of the earth's gravity. I like both games but this seemed to be a big difference between the two.Comment

Re: Best ball physics?
I thought HomeRun King ( yeah that's right...Sega's OTHER baseball game )had some really exceptional ball physics that really made you feel like you were getting wood on the ball. Plus the engine was simply a joy to play with. In fact, I wish Sega had used this engine for the newer WSB series.
I also felt ASB really had some realistic physics but had some wierd timing glitch with the Lefty batters that seemed reversed and the variety of hits weren't as varied as some of the other titles. High Heat's (PC ) physics were the most unrealistic....the results, locations and placements of hits almost felt scripted. I really didnt get that rewarding and/or believable feeling of really batting with that game.Comment

Either that, or the lefties really were disciplined to go the opposite way. I like how the ball bounced either on the ground or wall. The physics for ASB was good.Comment
