well BA,TPA,and many other scouts said Lopez was the next Tejada.Ill take the scouts opinion over some posters from an internet message board.

That's hysterical. There's a chance Lopez might begin the season in the minors from what I read depending on how his spring goes.

Lopez has been compared to Miguel Tejada.

just because they are compared to him doesn't mean they are as good a baseball player as him...maybe someone was compared to babe ruth because he ate a hot dog before every game...

Re: What does your teams future look like?

God this is funny. I have never seen such blatant homer-ism. Ok, so some scouting reports said your beloved Reds prospects look good. Woopty doo, man, really.

For every guy that actually ends up performing like scouts think he will, there are about 10 that become complete busts. Perhaps you have never heard of Todd Van Poppel, Chad Hermanson, Ricky Ledee, Matt White, Travis Lee, Nigel Wilson, etc etc. Even guys like Corey Patterson, Drew Henson and Josh Hamilton are in danger of being viewed as busts, even though they were all regarded as "can't-miss" prospects. They are still really young and have time to turn it around, but it does allow you to see that scouting is far from an exact science.

I would be shocked if any of your Reds boys come close to your projections. The only ones I see getting remotely close are Dunn and Kearns, and they have already somewhat proven their skills on the major league level, so it wasn't much of a stretch for you there, even though they will both fall a little short of what you predicted.

Wily "Mo" Pena will never have much of an impact, despite having what some scouts have called "Sammy Sosa-like potential". Why do you think he hasn't reached the big club yet? He has been stuck in the minors for longer than he should have been, and it is because the guy has no grasp of the strike zone. Not having good command of the strike zone has killed many a prospect. In fact, that is what has held Chad Hermanson back for so long, and what is currently the problem with Corey Patterson. You have to be able to take a walk or two at the major league level.

I have a subscribtion to Baseball America, and I have NEVER, EVER seen them compare Felipe Lopez to Tejada.

Maybe it's because they both have an e in their last name?

Dude no team in the history has every had .300 hitters 1-9 in their lineup with those stats you project the reds will have the best team BA of all time. The most HRS and RBIs and the best ERA. Kearns and Dunn may be future superstars but I highly doubt youll have 9 players with BAs above 270. and no everyone on your team will hit at least 30 HRs it doesn't happen.

This is a fun thing, too bad no team EVER maintains the same projected lineup of the future. Too much movement in baseball.
