Re: There are so many pros and cons for these games
It depends on whether the batter has a good eye. I was playing Cardinals vs. Diamondbacks last night, and Mark Grace wouldn't swing at anything out of the strikezone, but I was getting Erubiel Durazo to chase high fastbals and sinkers in the dirt all night long. Very realistic. And yes, the CPU does bunt appropriately, and does the little things right. It started Counsel running last night with a 2-1 count on Grace, who hit it hard to shortstop, but the fact that Counsel was running meant I couldn't get the double play. Very smart.Comment

In High Heat, particularly with pitchers who aren't all that accurate, I actually end up walking people.

Damn, walking people in game! Now there's a concept
You can actually draw walks in HH too!!
There are options to turn off the strike zones in both ASB and WSB which makes it more difficult to pinpoint pitches.Comment

Re: There are so many pros and cons for these games
I think that is another reason the batter/pitcher interface looks interesting on MVP. If you have a pitcher with a low control rating, his pitch meter will be faster and harder to stop, meaning his pitches won't hit the right spots. This should allow for more balls and AI walks and realistic pitch counts. The same should apply with a tired pitcher, his meter will be quicker. I am hoping the meter speeds up as the game goes on, making it tougher to spot pitches.
That's why I don't mind if HH is an incredible upgrade from last year, I know the gameplay will be good and the batter/pitcher interface will be evn better. Give me the updated rosters, decent graphics, minor leagues, franchise, and great gameplay and I'm set.Comment

Re: There are so many pros and cons for these games
I agree completely Jordan. I am hoping that HH will look a little (or a lot) better, but they don't have to change much in the way of gameplay to make me happy. I still play HH2K3 regularly right now.
And what you say about MVP I have also read about and found very intriguing, so I might have to pick up (or at least rent, if I can find a copy at Bluckbuster) that one to check it out.Comment

ASB- normal cursor mode (3D), 2D cursor, no cursor at all (again, timing based), or zone based hitting with no cursor (like High Heat).
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Where did you find out that ASB is going to have a zone based cursor like HH? All the media I've read hasn't indicated this, they've only said a timing-based no-cursor like last year. If indeed ASB has this zone-based batting I will definitely go with them because the only thing I dislike about ASB is the cursor system.Comment
