Red Sox Tickets
Going to Boston next weekend and was hoping to catch a game. Are the games usually sold out and if so, what's the next best way to grab some seats? Any ticket agencies that are reputable? Any input would be greatly appreciated!Tags: None -
Re: Red Sox Tickets
Let me know if you need advice on specific seats. Certain areas of Fenway can be pretty uncomfortable. -
Re: Red Sox Tickets
Yea let us know what you are planning on spending and what you want for seats. I go a few times a year (usually scalping) and get good tickets for slightly less than solid prices for Sox standards. However I went a week ago and couldn't get anything under $125, standing room was $100. So I went to Uno's can watched it there with my buddy.
On a side note, I got some tickets for the Futures at Fenway game. $20 each for some impressive third base side seats.Comment

Re: Red Sox Tickets
Thanks guys....
I guess I'm willing to spend in the $200 range for a pair.....not really picky on location.
Which areas should I avoid? I'll probably check out that ticket agency. Might feel a little stressed with my wife and I running around talking to scalpers.
Any other "must sees" in the Boston area? Going for 4 days. Can't wait!Comment

What types of things are you looking to do? There's plenty of historical stuff (Freedom trail, Bunker Hill,USS Constitution, etc). The museum of science is pretty good. The aquarium is ok but there's a lot to do in that area (bout tours, whale watches, Quincy Market is a short walk).Comment

Re: Red Sox Tickets
The area that I refuse to sit in, is the grandstand. Most of the seats are old wooden seats with no leg room. I'm 6'4" and I can't sit there for a full 9 inning game. Some of the seats also have obstructed view. Seats down the RF line can also be tough because they don't really face the field. You're constantly looking left to watch the game. Anywhere else should be fine, just let us know because between me and a few of the other Sox fans we've pretty much sat in every section of the park.

I'm not quite as tall as you, but still 6'1", so will probably try to avoid the grandstand. I'll check with some ticket agencies and then see what you guys think. Also, it's ok to yell "Red Sox suck" the whole game right? Actually, I can cheer for them for one game since my Jays are pretty much out of the East race.
Yeah, my wife and I will check out the historic stuff for sure...Otherwise, we like neighborhoods with a lot of charm, etc...Our ideal day is just walking through windy, old streets and checking out the architecture, etc...
Getting geared up for the clam chowder too.Comment

There's plenty of walking you can do. Definitely walk around the north end and waterfront areas.Comment

I was on vacation in Rhode Island last week. Stopped by Boston a couple days and went to Fenway last Thursday. We got the tickets off StubHub.Comment

Re: Red Sox Tickets
Holy smokes...just looking at some online options.
Cheapest I'm seeing for two seats is Bleacher 38 (dead center), Row 34, for $150 a seat.
I'll check a few more sites I guess, but might have to bite the bullet on this one.Comment

Re: Red Sox Tickets
Go to the Ted Williams statue in Fenway. its Scalp Free zone, but what happens is the season ticket holders that cant go to the game they give the tickets to an usher or someone and you can buy the tickets from them at face value. The tickets are usually good but you have to get there early and pray that you are the first few in line.

Re: Red Sox Tickets
I've been to 2 games at Fenway. First time I didn't listen to Andrew and I sat in the grandstand...and I regretted it! The seats are very small, at 5"10 my knees were pressing against the seat in front of mine. My back was also killing me from the wooden seat.
The 2nd time I sat in 143. They were plastic seats and while they were still not very wide they were much, much more comfortable and there was more leg room. That game was vs. the Rangers. I spent countless hours trying to find the best deal. I ended up spending about $375 for 2 tickets. WAY more than I wanted to spend but I wanted to be somewhat comfortable after my last experience.
A website Andrew gave me a while ago is: http://www.fenwaydata.com/index.php
It doesn't look like they're adding much to it but there is some good info on it. It would be nice if someone took it over and got more pictures & information added as I'm sure a lot of people would use it.
Here's a link to a website with some coupon codes for some brokers: http://tix101.com/coupons.aspx
I just bought some tickets from BigStub and it went well.
Hope that helps. I'm not a Fenway expert but I have done a ton of research and have been to a couple games so let me know if I can help.Comment

I'm wondering if I should just take my chances with scalpers. I didn't realize that all these agencies charge around $30 for shipping and then another $30 for service charges. Basically, I'm looking at $350ish for some really mediocre seats.
One more question- Are there are a lot of scalpers selling counterfeit tickets? I would hate to get burned like that.Comment

Re: Red Sox Tickets
Sometimes you can get standing room tickets the day of the game. I know that if nobody buys the handicap accessable seats they'll sell those to anyone after a couple of innings as well. They might be the best deal in the house but you need some luck to get them. Sometimes you can do okay with a scalper if it's getting close to gametime and they're desperate to unload them.Comment

Re: Red Sox Tickets
There is this little known new pastry shop in the North End called "Trani" that I would highly recommend going to. It just opened about a year and a half ago or so.
Basically the gist is that you can purchase a cannoli, donut, cupcake, eclair, brownie, or other type of pastry. The twist is that they inject ice cream inside the dessert. I'm telling you, it tastes absolutely phenomenal, and it is relatively cheap, all things considered. Only like $3-4 for the cannoli that I got. This is a great place to bring a chick, she'll love this kind of stuff. Here is a website with more details: http://www.phantomgourmet.com/ShowPa...rtCard&Id=3481
One problem with this place is that it is very difficult to find within the North End. The streets there are extremely confusing, so you really need to study a map for a bit before you go to this place.
Other places I would reccomend going if you are in Boston:
- Sunset Grill & Tap - here you will find the greatest beer selection of all time, and definitely in the entire Boston area. This is accessible from Fenway Park if you take the T by the way. This place is pretty cheap, casual, and usually crowded at night. When I lived in Boston, I always went here.
Ana's Taqueria - aside from my family, this is by far the biggest thing I miss about living in Boston. Here you will find the single greatest burritos and quesadillas of all time. What makes this place so great is the cheap price combined with the amazing taste. I seriously love this f'n place. It is also accessible by T from Fenway Park. There are at least 4-5 Ana's Taqueria's in the Boston area, so pick one nearest to where you are staying. If you don't go here while you visit Boston...you should be outcast from society. Seriously, there are even Facebook groups dedicates to Ana's, it is that popular.Comment
