Pick offs is a move that seemed to be forgotten in todays baseball games. Either the CPU does'nt take large enough leads with the runner or you as a player dont really take large leads. I did however get picked off a few times in HH. Never picked the CPU off.

I guess it's too much to ask to let the AI work for this move. I say if it doesn't work, then why even put it in the game.

HH IMO seems to be the only game where you can pick off the CPU, cause when they wanna steal base, they will take a large lead. Its just up to you to spot it. And in most cases, the game play is so fast, you wont reconize it. Soons you throw a pitch, they call ball or strike and all in one motion you're pickin the next pitch and throwing.

HH and ASB were the only games last yr where I actually did a sucessful pick off. Personally, I think all Baseball games should have a Pickoff rating for pitchers, and a guy with a great PO move like Pettite should be able to be sucessfull maybe 1 out of 5 times, given the right circumstances, but a guy like Leiter may only be sucessful 1 out of 20. I definitely feel its a lost art in both real life and in vg's

Good point. Most teams in the MLB dont even have 5 players that can steal 20 bases a season. It seems that most teams want power over speed.

the pickoff move should be more useful than just trying to throw the runner out. against the cpu, it should let them know that you're aware of them and make them shorten their lead, but that doesnt seem to happen

Depends on your terms of "working"... I use the pick-off move, but not primarly for getting that extra out, more so to keep the runner close to the base so if he DOES try to steal, i'lll have a better chance of getting him out with a play at 2nd. I've been picked off a couple times, but not because I took too big of leads, it's because I accidentally took off like a bat out of hell for 2nd before the pitcher committed to the plate.
