Re: Just finshed my AL Preview

possibilty and probability are two completely different things. Of course it is always possible the Yankees could falter, but is it likely? Considering they have won the division every single year since 1995, and that they will always do whatever it takes to go out and get what they need at the deadline would suggest that they won't.

Also, when I said that nothing is a sure thing in baseball, I primarily was talking about heralded prospects panning out. Since the Red Sox have one of the poorest records when it comes to player development, it is easy to be skeptical of any "prospect" they have.

What is Rick Asadoorian up to lately???

I totally disagree with some of you about Jeremy Giambi. I think that he will have a break out season. Boston is a lefties park with the shot porch out in right. Giambi will find it easier to hit at Fenway than he did in the huge Colisieum and The digusting Philly park. That being said I think that Walker is a solid player at second and is very underrated for a guy who brings a .300 avg. to the park with a decent glove. And no I am not a sox fan but give those guys credit

AL East -Yankees will win it, that is over and done. I would bet virutally anything on that.

AL Central-Between the White soxs and Twins. I like the Twins pitching depth and bullpen alot more, so I'm going with the Twins.

AL West-Looks like the Mariners might be the most underrated team in the league this year, had about 1,000 things go wrong last year and still come up with 93 games in the hardest division in baseball. Lets not forget that they are the only team in baseball too win 300 games over the last 3 years. Its between them and the A's. Angels will be lucky to win 90 games, they were my most underrated team last year, now they are my most overrated team.

The A's big 3 is tough but there 4 and 5 guys are question marks. There bullpen is horrible if Foulke doesn't rebound(I think he will). Chavez, Tejada, Durazo, Dye are great hitters but there lineup is average after them.

The Mariners have a great bullpen and a great to decent rotation. Meche and Franklin have the potential to be good. The lineup is good to great if they stay healthy and do what they are capable of. Going to be a fight, I think Seattle and Oakland will cover the AL West and AL wild card.

Yeah im kind of a regular on the faqs board and yes i'm a sox fan but it's not like im claiming fossum will be a cy young contendor or that giambi or millar will be MVP candidates. I'm just saying based on past performances and stats theres no reason to believe Fossum cant be an effective pitcher with a sub 4 ERA. Fossum isnt exactly a prospect he has a good amount of major league experience and has been successful in that time. Giambi can also have a great year because in the past he's been successful in part time roles so why cant he carry that over to a full time role.

I think Giambi can be a 260+ 25 homer 75-90 RBI guy with horrible defense. I think the Redsox can survive with that Rotation, but to say they will get into the playoffs? not likely. Win close to 90 games probably. Like SportsorDeath was saying they just have way to many question marks to say that they will compete with the yankees.

People are forgetting that the red sox won 93 games last year despite frank castillo making 23 starts and pitching in 36 games total and rolando arrojo pitching in 29 games. The rotation will be much more solid this year with wakefield starting a full year and fossum pitching instead of castillo or arrojo. Oh yeah tony clark, brian daubach and jose offerman also had about 1000 ABs between them and they have been replaced by giambi, millar and ortiz who are all much better hitters than daubach, clark and offerman.

Ya, but to say they are going to beat out the Yankees, Athletics, or Mariners isn't likely IMO. They won 93 games because Lowe and Martinez pitched out of there minds most of the year.
