Pirates get a bat!!

Along with the strong pitching of my boys we now have reggie sanders, ya i know he isnt a superstar but his numbers were last yr were better than anyone we had, after giles.

Also Kenny lofton is pretty close to signing as well, could my beloved buccos have some offense??

Reggie Sanders is one of the streakiest hitters in baseball.

but personally, i dont think that Lofton and Sanders will improve the offense that much.

Man, are the Pirates becoming a haven for all the players who havent signed with anybody or what? Are they going to sign Ricky Watters or Jamal Anderson to play first base next?

These moves have got to be strictly to appease the fans and maybe even snooker some of them into thinking they are going to be competitive. Other than that, I don't see the point of throwing away money on also rans when you aren't going to contend. The money could be better spent on the farm system or something, imo, and they could get somewhat similar production from younger cheaper guys.

I really hope the front office can get the franchise back on track, because it is a shame to have a team that bad with a stadium that beautiful. I feel bad that their fans have to watch the product being put on that field.

I really would love to see Kris Benson stay healthy and become the force he is supposed to be. Also, what happened to Bobby Bradley? He was supposed to be a great prospect, but he has fallen off the face of the earth. Is his arm still messed up? Also, what happened to JR House? Did he hit the minor league wall?

If they can get those guys for the right price, than it seems like a good move, just hope it doesn't turn into another Derek Bell situation.

Sanders deal is 1 yr 1 milll, not bad considering what we have in the outfield already.

Pirates have the pitching and lack hitting how is this a bad move?

House is hurt, pirates are makin strides i see over .500 this yr our staff is really well put together and very strong pen.

For 1 million that sounds like a steal, that certainly is depriving the Pirates an opportunity to build their farm system while getting them a quality player. If they could get Lofton that would great for them if he plays hard.

House had surgery on his wrist (I think). He should be ok pretty soon though.

As for the signing of Sanders. How can it hurt the Bucs. 1 year for 1 million isn't bad. If he pops 20 HR and gives a little protection to Giles and Ramirez (who BETTER play better this year), spending 1M isn't that bad.

What they should be worried about is that they don't have anybody who can take a walk on that team. Plate dicipline is AWFUL! So what do they do, go pick up Randal Simon and Matt Stairs. Two guys who don't know how to take a pitch.

If the Bucs reach .500 this season, it was a good season. All depends on how the staff holds up. Benson should be back this year and hopefully Wells and Fogg hold up.
