Tampa already tried the whole aged star thing back when they came into the league. I could see Baltimore doing something stupid though. They certainly have the track record. Texas could be a good fit too. Oakland seems like the likely bet.Comment

You really think Sciossia (sp) will take Barry's BS and potential to poison the clubhouse?
I've heard Barry saying numerous times that he wants to continue playing at least for another couple years. He's probably more then willing to take a paycut if the market isn't there for him. I've also heard the crazy rumor that he may be interested in playing in the J-League in Japan!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Giants done with BARRY BONDS
Like people said it's likely the AL so he can be a full-time DH and spell a LF every now and then.
I don't see him going to any of the AL East teams. The Yankees have no space for him on the roster. Boston might not exactly be open to having him play there. Toronto, Baltimore, and Tampa Bay are becoming extremely serious about a youth movement and I doubt they'll think that Barry could provide veteran leadership for their guys. (that's not a knock on Barry, by the way).
I can see the AL West being serious about Barry. Oakland would probably give him a shot if he took less money. Texas is always looking for that star that can bring fans and they will pay $15 million for it. The Angels are also willing and able to pay for his services but I think it depends on whether a certain 3B is a free agent. I don't see Seattle making a bid at him.
The Central could be mixed. Barry probably won't want to play in Kansas City. Minnesota has too much trouble with their own players to even consider a star player heading toward the down-side of his career. Cleveland could be a nice fit since they may be looking to balance their young roster with a few veterans. I wouldn't be surprised at Detroit making an offer because Leyland believes he can manage anyone. And the White Sox could be serious about Barry Bonds since they need to rebound from a terrible season."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Giants done with BARRY BONDS
It's not that Boston wouldn't be open to him playing here... it's more like Barry thinks Boston is the most racist city in the country. I disagree (Birmingham has to be worse... right? right...?) but Dan Shaughnessy does make it seem that way sometimes.Comment

Angels, Tigers, White Sox, and Yankees (in that order) appear to be the only logical destinations.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Giants done with BARRY BONDS
The Tigers are not going to happen because Bonds and Gary Sheffield do NOT get along and having those two together would destroy the good nucleus that team has going.
The White Sox have Jim Thome under contract for one more season so they don't need a DH.
And as many have said the Yankees have plenty of DH types on their roster.
Oakland actually seems like the most logical choice. Bonds is a "Billy Ball" type player: lots of walks and lots of HR's, the problem is going to be money. The A's basically waisted $8.5 million on Mike Piazza and may be hesitant to spend that kind of money again on another aging slugger. If Bonds will take a significant pay cut, maybe a low base salary high incentive laden deal then i could see Oakland make a push for him.Comment
