Re: Bonds ball to be BRANDED *
The ball would be unavoidably stigmatized anyway, which is as it ought to be...
The asterisk, then, should not be seen as a commentary on Bonds and the suspicion around his accomplishment...that does and would exist regardless.
The asterisk is a measurement of a particular emotion at a particular time...people may feel different later, but in the late summer of 2007, a large number of people were angry, frustrated, and/or cynical...
the asterisk symbolizes people's anger and skepticism about the issue, which this vote suggests is the overriding opinion on the subject, during a time immediately surrounding the event...
the asterisk does not stigmatize Bonds any more than is already the case, it is redundant.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

If a regular fan would have did it, he would have his life threatened, tarred, feathered and baned from the majority of major league parks because of it. So with that said, I think it does take just a small amount of nut-juice to pull a stunt like this off.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Bonds ball to be BRANDED *
Looked back on by history, had the ball been sent into outer space, this era would have been seen and written about as if it were a joke.
...had the ball been sent the way it was to the HOF, this era would barely have been a footnote in baseball history as we would be remembered as the fans who stood aside and did nothing, the fans who chose not to care.
...now that the ball is being sent with an asterik...a mark...a note, if you will, written by the people declaring that they knew something was wrong and that they were not going to stand for cheating, regardless of the milestone involved...this era will go down in history as a very important one in Baseball History, an era of suspicion, drugs, and long home run balls whose coming about cannot be corroborated.
Rather than the other two options presented, the asterik will do more than make a footnote of this era, it will make it an entire chapter at least.
In my opinion, that is as it should be. I'm glad the people voted for this.Comment

I wanted it to be launched into space, so that way it would somehow land on an asteroid headed straight for earth and ultimately destroy us.

I think Marc Ecko and the ball should both be fired into the sun. I'm tired of these attention seeking dinks.Comment
