Re: One Game Playoff: Padres at Rockies
Dammit. I wish I could watch this game, but I have a pre-marriage class to attend.
I played alongside Rockies outfielder Cory Sullivan in high school. He was a sophomore when I was a senior. Pitched against him in an intra-squad game. Struck him out in 2 AB's and he grounded out in another.Good kid.

Go Rockies!
I love Greg Maddux and Peavy, and would love to see them try for a ring, but I would love to see what this Rockies offense can do in the playoffs.Comment

Re: One Game Playoff: Padres at Rockies
I'm not sure why I dislike the Padres. I think the combination of their spacious pitchers park and their no name offensive roster just makes them boring. Colorado is much more interesting, with Holliday, Helton, and Atkins as better offensive forces than nearly anybody the Padres have to offer.
Peavy is the difference maker though, and with the season on the line, the Padres have to be considered the heavy favorite. The Rockies seem to have that special magic this season, and if they can somehow keep it close with Fogg and whomever else they can run out, I think they can pull this out in the late innings. I bet this will be a close and exciting game to watch, I hope. I'd like to see the Rockies take this.Comment

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
