I dunno, at least those guys say something stupid enough to get attention. Orsillo and Simpson sounded half asleep for most of the game. I do admit they were great in the last inning of play tho.

I liked it. It was a great game and wasnt over sold with fake yelling and screaming or over the top intro music.

Bleh, Id rather have Steve Stone. I have no interest in Ron Darling. Why did they mix up announcers who were popular in other cities/areas? Dumb.

Agreed. I usually like Simpson, but he (and Orsillo) seemed out of it tonight. I also expect they'll have more cameras set up for the playoff games. I realize they didn't know there would be a game in Denver tonight until yesterday, but I could have used some more angles, particularly on Atkins HR/Double, and the play at the plate to end the game.

You hit it on the head. Baseball, more than any other major league sport, has the biggest egos among their commentators. They are constantly overly in love w/their own voices & expertise. Its refreshing to listen to people who think the action on the field should be the star.

I agree for a game of that magnitude you should show some emotion. You would have thought it it was spring training listening to those guys.

I don't get TBS in HD yet, but i think all DBacks games for the first round will also be on local free tv (not sure), so I might get HD there.

That's my biggest complaint. I'd rather have it in HD with poor announcers than not in HD with good announcers.

I love sports in HD...I'm becoming an HD snob, just pains me to see unused TV space and a crappier picture. I think Cox is getting a bunch of new HD channels soon to combat DirecTV, but we'll see.

                          Re: TBS Announcers For Playoffs

We just got TBSHD last night from Comcast, just in time. We also got CNNHD, nice to see Comcast doing something.

It was weird watching the game last night, Don Orsillo was way more tolerable than he is on NESN.

I agree. I have a small local cable provider called Armstrong. They're usually pretty late to update HD channels because they don't have the funds. I just got ESPN2HD before college football season so that was nice.

I might move to DirecTV in the future. Been pondering that for a long time now.

I was skeptical at first, but TBS won me over last night. Far superior to Fox in my opinion.
