What makes IGN's better then ours? Do you trust them more because they charge you for their opinions!?!?!?

    A) IGN's reviews aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
    B) They are faster.

Back in my theatre days, there were two distinct classes of writers: reviewers and critics.

Reviewers were the people that left early on opening night in order to write a few column inches for the next day's paper. These were publicity, nothing more, nothing less. They helped people decide wether to buy tickets or not.

Critics are those that write for monthlies, or biweeklys, or whatever. Thy often have a long-term view, and actually wrtie more interesting pieces than "Should I see it". These critics actually contribute to the artform by discussing deeper issues.

IGN is a review. In the first week, it can help people on the fence. OS is criticism - it can take it's time to look at games, and really evaluate them.

Of course, the last point is that all reviews aren't worth a damn. It's just someone's opinion. And I have my own.

Speaking of reviews (um, i mean critiques), when will we be seeing OS critique HH?

They aren't like some gaming sites that will give NFL 2K3 a 6 out of 6 (not to mention any names NEXT LEVEL GAMING cough cough). Always look at IGN ratings and read what they have to say FIRST. And oh yeah... game rankings might have gotten that rating from EGM.

IGN does a good job of listing all the features and saying whether they are cool or not, and comparing them to other games. They get more in-depth than other general interest sites, but you won't find the detailed analysis that you get at a sports-only site like OS or Baseball Sim Central.
