Interesting thing bout Old Yankee Stadium

Well I was watching an episode of the documentary series BASEBALL by Ken Burns and it was on the era 1950-1960. Anyways I learned this really neat and interesting thing about Old Yankee Stadium from Bob Costas. He was telling a story about a trip to the stadium. As he was relating his story he told of how at the end of games the grounds crew would open the bullpen doors and people could walk on the field and through the bullpens which lead to street level.

I thought to myself, "Self, that was a really cool design feature that would NEVER fly today". I just love the little things like that about old ballparks. It's those kind of things that we'll never see again. The retro style parks try to emulate the style of the great old parks but they'll have the CHARACTER of those parks. I just wanted to share this cuz it's close to baseball season and it also really shows the difference between the golden age of the game and the business minded aspect that we see today.

These are the kinds of things that made baseball "America's Game". I hope that these kind of things can survive and allow baseball to live on forever. I can't imagine a world without the smell you get when you first walk into the ballpark and see the green field infront of you. I can't wait for the season to start.

I know how you feel. I've never really been a big baseball fan, but I love the history of the game. When I played High Heat on the PC, I only used the old stadiums, retro unis and 1930 roster. I bought ASB for PS2 last year because of the old stadiums and uniforms. I'm buying WSB for x-box this year because of the old stadiums and increased number of throwback unis ( I hope I can "create" the teams and rosters from 1930).

My personal wish is that some company will spend more attention to "old time" baseball. More stadiums, more unis, more old teams. Why can't the game "Old Time Baseball" be done again, with updated graphics?

(and I still wonder why NO ONE ever puts Sportsman's Park in their game? HH puts in Baker Bowl, but always neglects Sportsman. ASB says it has 75 stadiums this year...have they added Sportsman's Park? If they did, I'll buy it!)

No, Sportsman Park wont be in. Dont you remember the petition going around to boycott ASB if Sportsman PArk was in ASB? I think 123, 456 people signed it so they gave in. Now, if youll please excuse me I have to go wash my hovercraft.

I assume you are joking about that petition Jake!

BTW....do you or anyone else know where I could find a list of the stadiums that ARE in ASB?

Speaking froma basketball fans standpoint. I wish these game designers can include some old great arena's. Maybe not just arenas (Most of the ones in the games now, you can barely see the unique designs) but may we can see old school courts, with older logos and wood finishes.

These is the least of my worrys. I just want an all around good BBALL game. but that has never ever been the case.

I don't follow the gameplay aspects of baseball games, but has there ever been "An Ultimate baseball game", with good gameplay and worth while features.

I never seen baseball video gamer's complain like us basketball fans.

Sportsman's Park is in the game. So is Crosley, Forbes, Shibe, Polo Grounds, Rickwood Field (Negro League), Tiger, Astrodome, Riverfront, Cinergy, etc...
It's funny, now that the Reds have moved into Great American, ASB has 4 stadiums just for the Reds.

For real asb-man? If Sportsman's is in the game I may just go with ASB again this year instead of WSB.

I'm not a "hard core" baseball sports gamer. As long as the game is fun and I can have a somewhat challenging game (I don't play against other people...and I'm 44 years old with not a whole lot of time on my hands so I don't have to worry about "dominating" the AI) it is little things like the old time stadiums and unis that mean the most to me.

Is there a complete list of stadiums somewhere?
