Fat says it's done. Why can't WSB ship early?

Fat Pitcher has said that the game has "been done" for some time.
Why wouldn't Sega ship it early?
They could get the jump on Acclaim.

I'm sure he meant they were done with making it. Still have to make all the games I assume.

Maybe they are looking for bugs.

Well, there are a lot of other things besides coding to get it out. I know Xbox games need to go through Microsoft QA, and there are also manufacturing schedules, distribution schedules, marketing schedules, etc.

All that said, however: This past fall, on very short notice, Sega pushed up the release date of NFL by a week in order to catch EA off guard. If I walked into EB on Friday and saw WSB on the shelf next to ASB, I would immediately cancel my planned ASB purchase, I think.

NOTE: This is blatantly wishful thinking. There is no way that WSB will show up that early.

Well, what I'm thinking is... they could've spent the 3 weeks they have been finished with it, and give us something else in the game... maybe PLAYER SCALING!?!?

They don't finish coding, then fire up the DVD burner. There are schedules. Just because the coding is finished, doesn't mean the product is finished. Had they taken your hypothetical three weeks to do player scaling, those three weeks gotta come from somewhere. So that means either slip the release date, or cut something else.
