    A little depressed

Man, have I been just flat out down in the dumps the last couple of days. I feel this way because of the end of baseball, especially the way it ended.

To preface, I have been a Rockies' fan for as long as any other Rockie fan (which isn't that much of an accomplishment, since 1993) and they just totally blew me away.

I preached back in August that it would be so cool if the Rockies were just playing meaningful baseball in September. Well they did. I wished that they could be in the playoff picture for a while in September, they did. The last Saturday of the month of September, I conceded that they made a heck of a run. A TGJ triple and all of a sudden the last Sunday was actually a pretty important Sunday. All falls into place for a one game playoff. I comment that with the run the Rockies had been on, we are blessed to watch them one more time. I go on to say that exact same thing for the next 11 ballgames.

The Rockies gave me the feeling that many have already felt the past 100 plus years. I now know what it is like to live on every pitch of every game. I now know what it is like to be sleep deprived staying up late. The Rockies gave me the opportunity to go to a real World Series game, holy cow, what an experience. But now the run is over. What a run, and I can't help but feel a little withdrawn and depressed. Depressed to think I have to wait 4 months for spring training.

Yep this is the time of year I follow the great Rajah Roger Hornsby's saying.

What do I do in winter after baseball season? I wait by the window and wait for spring

        Amen.

I'm lost without baseball. Thank God the offseason is only 4 months, and the Celtics are actually relevant this year.

So true. I'm completely bored right now. I'm actually taking an interest in hockey again, but nothing compares to baseball. Worst time of the year!

don't forget this beaut from the late A. Bartlet Giamanti...

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone."
