Stealing!
I'm getting hosed left and right...I do my best to get a good jump, but I just don't make it...or I'm picked off. Any advice? (Other than get a curveball count). Also, how come it seems like if I hit the right trigger to go back, i get picked, but if I let the computer do it, I don't. I've noticed this a couple times, it's really frustrating. The computer makes a move at the same time I'm shortening my lead, and i get nailed. Anyway, HELP!! I'm the Devil Rays...I NEED TO GET PEOPLE TO 2ND.Tags: None -
Re: Stealing!
Last year, you would press the button that was "return all runners" in order to divge back to the base. Just increase your lead, make sure you have a fast runner, and get a good jump! -

Yea, I had a hard time stealing too... I found that taking a lead (even with just one press of the L2 buttton) will often get you picked off. So I rarely even take leads bc the computer is so good at picking you off no matter how fast your guy is.
Getting a large lead can be very helpful but not always necessary. I find that if you have a fast enough runner, you can steal a base if you get a good jump...that is the key. It is hard to pinpoint where exactly into the pitchers windup to go...you just have to practice it until you get a good feel.Comment

Re: Stealing!
Did you increase pitch speed? I don't have this year's game yet, but if it is like last year then when you turn pitch speed up, you have to increase runner speed as well or you will get thrown out way too often. Then you have to mess with throwing power and it turns into a mess.Comment

Re: Stealing!
Yeah, I bumped FB's by two, and everything else by 1. Problem is,if I tweak the catcher's throw speed, it looks real funny...and if I turn up baserunning, then I have to turn up fielder's throw speed...I haven't really found a good set of sliders, yet. Maybe that'll helpComment

Re: Stealing!
Remember too, you need to run in good base stealing counts. Its tough to steal on a good fastball...try to go on breaking ball or offspeed pitches.Comment

Re: Stealing!
okay dudes think like a real life basestealer. Take your leads, but play with the pitcher. advance/retreat and so on.. because of the varying speeds of pitches this year it is possible to steal on even a 2 seam fastball... just be prepped to sacrifice alot of runners in the process. I steal at least on average 3-4 bases a game with my tigers in franchise...
PRACTICE PRACTICE it pays off!

Re: Stealing!
I let the cpu do my running, but something dating back to last year's game is happening. my leadoff guy seems to get picked off A LOT... last year, i got so tired of it, i would switch to manual running if my leadoff guy got a single, cuz i was tired of wasting outs and that was a real bug. i've only played 2 games in my season so far, but it already has happened once, not looking hopefulComment
