    GameInformer "BaseWars"

I got the mag today in the mail, and I'll give you guys some excerpts from the scouting reports section. It has some good articles on all the MLB's2004.

1.WSB2K4 "World series baseball's francise mode is the deepest on the market. So, if you're looking for a game with incredible simulation capabilities, this is the closet you'll come to the big leagues. While the verdict is still out on the gameplay, Sega has made an effort to make it much more user-friendly and arcade-centric. Glitzy over the top plays and innovative batting interfaces give it a new look and feel, but it still lacs the zip of All-Star and the authenticity of High Heat.

2.HighHeat2k4- "As drastically improved as this game may be, High Heat still comes up short in comparison to the competition. This year's version actually stacks up quite well against last year's batch of games, but lacks the depth or innovative features needed to stand a chance against this year's overhauled games. Even with an entirely new frontend and a hefty graphical upgrade, High Heat doesn't have what it takes to challenge the leaders. Sadly, other games are now matching High Heat's realism in gameplay as well.

    3. IP2K3- "This franchise is still in its infancy, and we applaud Microsoft's decision to focus on the material that matters, but it may be a few years late. The copetition has ramped up to unattainable levels; and no matter how entertaining Inside Pitch's gameplay may be in the end, it won't have the fantasy, statistical, or bonus options needed to lure baseball fans into Microsoft's mitt. Neverthe less, the online aspect is entertaining, and could be its saving grace if Acclaim falters with its internet play in All-Star.

    4. MLB2K4- There's a lot to like about MLB's frontend the spring training, Franchise, and career modes are conceptual standouts that give the game a different look. From what we've seen thus far, however, it may suffer from poblematic AI, unattractive animations and balancing difficulties by the time it ships. One can't question the innovative ideas of 989 has impemented, but as we've seen from numerous 989 Sports franchises, creating a well-rounded and finely polished game takes more than creative concepts.

    5. MVP2K3 - As the name implies, MVP baseball could very well be the most valuable game of the year. EA strove to reinvent itself, but in doing so, may have reinvented all of video game baseball as a whole. Without a doubt, MVP has the most unique gameplay package. The battin/piching interface is the closest any company has come to accurately depciting this sport, and the unique twists in Franchise mode set it even further apart from the pack. As outstanding of an effort as i is, the questionable fielding and uncharacteristic AI may hold it back from greatness.

Just a break down of the article.

        6. ASB2K4- Once again, ASB receives GI's vote as the most desirable game of the season. EA and Sega are lobbying to steal Acclaims's thunder on the gameplay front, but nothing comes close to touching ASB deep and rewarding selection of game modes, bonus features, and historical aspects. Gamers may turn toward the more gameplay-centric titles on the market to suit their gaming needs, but ASB will more than likely be this season's most complete and rewarding release.

Right now if I was a betting man Id say MVP and IP are going to be the best games this year.
I think mvp for PC and IP for xbox will suprise people this year.
As long as IP creates a solid fluid pitcher/batter interface with camera edit view and fluid animated gameplay similar to the effort of Inside Drive, a fatigue feature similar to ID and some tweaks to the player models and more pixels added they could have a contender for best game. I just have a feeling WSB is going to fall short in the gameplay for some reason. MVP is going to suprise people with a good sim this year with innovative ideas and good graphics. I think the pC game will take this award because of the online play and better graphics.

                    High Heat 2004
but lacks the depth or innovative features needed to stand a chance against this year's overhauled games (care to explain)
Sadly, other games are now matching High Heat's realism in gameplay as well. (WSB's arcade-centric) (ASB- 6/10 IGN) (MVP- "The battin/piching interface is the closest any company has come to accurately depciting this sport" Golf simulation ?)
