I just wanted to add my two cents with some comments as to why I'm NOT buying a baseball game this year...
Reason:
After purchasing baseball games year after year. I realized now, that it's only a matter of time until I master it and it becomes the same boring crap. Hitting becomes easy no matter how high you set the difficulty. You end up in first place winning the World Series on your first year, with the worst team you could possibly choose. But that’s not all… Getting the CPU out with certain pitches and combos because of lame AI, have ruined and have plagued baseball games and will continue to do so until programmers stop copying each others code. My recommendation is that they focus on coming up with a deeper and smarter AI.
To this day, the best baseball console game that I've played has been WSB ‘98 for the SATURN!!! How pathetic is that??? Here we are, 5 years later and graphics are the only thing they have made progress on. But really folks, when all is said and done, would you rather pitch out of a jam in the 9th inning by turning a "do or die" double play that the AI challenged you with or would you rather have nice shinny helmets and fireworks in the outfield?!?
Do as you may but keep in mind that human beings program videogames. This leads me to believe that they either don't have the intelligence and aren’t creative enough to make a challenging game or they just flat out believe that you're not intelligent enough to figure out something difficult. Or maybe I’m just too darn old to be playing videogames!!!

One humble man's opinion!
