When are they giving out Awards?

Anyone know when they will issue any of the regular season awards? MVP's Cy Youngs, Rookie of the Year, etc.?

It's no wonder why MLB TV ratings are down and the overall interest in the sport is dropping, they drag everything out. It's now November 5th. The World Series has been over for over a week. The regular season has been over for a month and we have no idea who the MVP's are.

And once they finally start to give out awards, it will take a week or two until they are done announcing them. By the time they announce the winners, nobody will care. People have, for the most part (probably everyone except Red Sox fans), moved on from the 2007 season and are already looking at next year.

January. MLB is run by a former used car salesman. Don't expect it to make sense.

The end of next week. The last two years the MVP was named on Nov. 14 and 15.

The stupid thing about all this is that all the awards are voted on and decided BEFORE the end of the regular season! (I believe the last day of the year) Yet, they wait so long like it's a closely guarded state secret.

I guess that's what happens when you have a used car salesman running things.

It's because Bud Selig doesn't like any annoucements to interrupt the postseason.

I think it makes sense to have it after the World Series. But it shouldn't take this long after the World Series.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yeah, I just don't get it, though. Even with that being said, we're talking 2 weeks after the world series would have ended had it gone 7 days. We're already hearing about free agent signings which will impact the next season and haven't even closed out the previous season.

I say push back the post season one day, and have one day to annouce all of the award winners.

If it has to be after the world series, then just do it like two or three days after the clincher (the winning teams parade is usually only a day or two after the final game).

It's only because there's about 100 awards given out that they need all that extra time...so they can get each award sponsored.

They should do like video games and announce it immediately after the WS...since you usually have to save and click a menu options, let's say announce the Awards one to two days later.

                  anything else is tardo.

I say the day after the WS champions parade. Let them enjoy the spotlight until the final celebration is done and then go award crazy. With the NFL and NCAA football going into the second half, both the NBA and NCAA basketball starting up, most people are over the MLB season and I think the overall prestige of the MVP award loses some spotlight.
