    Mike Lowell....WTF

    I was just looking at M Lowell stats on ESPN, Did you guys know he's Puerto Rican.......I never new this...I always thought he was white.

              I thought this came up once when he played in Miami. How he was in a city with fellow Cubans.

              The surname Lowell is originally Norman French.

                  His father is German/Irish. The guy moved to Cuba in the 60s. I'm not so sure about his mother but my guess is she was from Cuba.

                              Yeah, if you go to places like Chile and Argentina and other places in Central America, you will see plenty of German and Jewish surnames, like Oscar Schmidt, for example... I think it was something about a lot of Jews going there to escape Nazi persecution.

                                  Actually, kind of the opposite... many South American leaders(dictators) back then were fascist friendly. Alot of Nazis fled to Argentina/Brazil/Paraguay, but might have been because there was already a decent German population there to hide out in.
