    Need some suggestions with batting......please!

I'm having a great time time with the pitching and the fielding aspects of the game but so far, batting is so incredibly frusturating. First of all, I'm playing on rookie. I'm also using the zone hitting interface and I've toyed with both the normal and exaggerated pitching. It seems to me any pitch out of the strike zone is basically unhittable. I feel as though the pitcher is right on top of me..giving me less than a second to make a split decision. I'm watching the ball and that damn little dot that shows up on the screen...nothing seems to be helping.....any advice would be well appreciated. Thanks!

I havent played this years version, but this is what gave me success in last years version.

Follow the pitchers tendencies. This is easier done after all of your players have had one AB against him. Try to see where he generally throws the first pitch in the AB. Does he like to start off with off speed stuff and then blow the heater past you? Or does the pitcher tend to throw heaters and then set you up for curves and changes?? In ASB 03, the majority of the pitches were in the bottom half of the strike zone; probably 60% or so. Because of this, I would normally position my cursor a tad bit below the middle of the strike zone. Then I would usually press L2 and down to "guess" the pitch would be in the bottom half. This would make my power icon get a tad bit larger and allow me a better chance to put good wood on the ball. If you see that the pitcher is starting off throwing sliders in almost every AB, use L2 and the button that corresponds to the pitchers slider to guess slider and sit on that pitch. If it comes, knock it, if not lay off and work the count some more. Also, dont be too eager to swing at whatever looks like you have a chance to hit, unless you have to protect the plate, be relatively choosey with your pitches. Chances are, youre probably gonna get that low and in fastball that you expect coming. Just wait on it. Now with all that said, hitting in ASB is pretty tough when youre first starting to get the feel for it, The pitches seem like they come in at 200 mph, but you will get used to it. When I first staring playing ASB last year, I could barely hit .200 , but afte I was 40 or so games into the season, hitting was becoming a walk in the park, almost too easy, I hope they have increased the difficulty for this years version.
