i understand that MVP has "Gone Gold" and that the release date has been moved up. but what does the status "gold" mean?

Somebody else may be able to give you a better answer, but since I'm up and no one has responded I'll do my best. Going gold, to the best of my knowledge, means it has passed all quality assurance tests and is ready to be printed onto the discs for the respective systems.
