2. Bullpen warm up - after getting knocked around a little bit - as Wakefield - I started to warm up Alan Embree and Mike Timlin. Two batters passed, a full inning of my hitting (5 batters) and one more CPU batter went by - and neither were ready. I'm not sure if Acclaim Austin has ever seen a baseball game, but it does not take that long to warm up a pitcher. This is directly tied to the fatigue model, as releivers still only last three or four hitters before being completely drained.
3. Play in the field - Fielding is full of too many issue for me. Manual fielding only, the game will sometime refuse to go into it's animation routine and a ball will go by my fielder to the wall, despite the fact that it had to roll through my fielder completely to get there. In addition, assist fielding will sometime refuse to let you take control of the fielder, meaning that the CPU will throw to a base you don't want it too. Maddening.
4. Player dives - ASB drives me crazy in that fielder dives are more of a half jump - you jump over half the balls you try to dive and stop.
5. Pitch speed - Even with easy batting, I was able to garner nothing in the way of hits. Seven innings, and just a whole lot of pop ups. This was against the # 5 starter for the Pirates too.
6. General presentation - the game is much improved from last year, but there is still not enough atmoshpere for my liking. Just too dull, from pace of play to the play itself.
ASB is better than it was last year, but I guess I fooled myself into beleiving it had changed enough for me to really delve into it.
I wish all of those who enjoy it the best of luck, as it is obvious that Acclaim has worked hard.
I guess the game just isn't for everybody, however.
