RIP Joe Kennedy. It's sad to see anyone die that young, especially when he just started his own family.

Damn, only six years older than me.

          RIP Joe.

            Yes he did.

There was a kid in my high school that died from one as well. He was a good athlete (swimmer) and just didn't wake up one morning. Autopsy showed he suffered from a brain aneurysm at night.

John Olerud had one as well.. the resulting surgery caused him the need to wear a helmet out in the field..

sad to hear about... scary that these can happen almost instantly..

For some reason, his death has saddened me more than anybody else this past year. I think I just knew this guy a lot more, since he pitched for the A's for a little bit. His age also doesn't help anything sound better.

                  Re: Joe Kennedy passes away

Not that this really means anything but sometimes stuff jumps out at you because of recent events.

I'm in the kitchen and I notice old mail that my mom put in a basket. I usually ignore that mail because I'm the one that picks it up so I know that none of that mail in the basket is mine.

Except, I notice a Sports Illustrated sitting in it. I pull it out and it's a May issue with Grady Sizemore on it. Definitely missed this one. Don't know how. Anyway, I decide to open it up and the first page I flip to has a comment from Joe Kennedy and it's just below the obituary Sports Illustrated posts every week.

Just thought that was a bit wild.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Really? I thought Olerud had a tumor removed and that's why he had to wear the helmet.

Hancock & now Kennedy. These were 2 pretty young guys. Hancock was intoxicated but don't know about Kennedy's situation yet. It's just sad when someone passes at such a young age. Thanks guys!

Hit me pretty hard too. I watched him pitch many times in person and have watched him as an A.
