I know but have you seen how big his head is compared to his body? No way that's natural unless he grew up next to Chernobyl.

So who's going to be Milwaukee's closer? Turnbow?

Turnbow is the likely candidate though Greg Aquino could also compete for the job. Heard a rumor that the Brewers were interested in bringing back Bob Wickman but i don't know if there is any truth to that.

i think dempster has lost the job....in what might be only a sick marketing ploy, the cubs are rumored to be looking to KerryWood.

I'd honestly have no problem with Wood being the closer over Dumpster. Cant be much worse, could it?

That would be the best thing that the Cubs could do. I really hope the Reds sign him, but I don't see it now, with the Cordero signing. He would be a good closer for the Cubs.

Marketing ploy or whatever, Kerry Wood could make a pretty good closer. He could be similar to Eric Gagne. Gagne had a lot of arm troubles early in his career and struggled as a starter but once the Dodgers moved him to the bullpen for a good three seasons he was probably the most dominant closer in the NL.
I think Wood could have that kind of success, we know he has the stuff and i think his days as a starter are over.

I read a couple of days ago that Boston might be interested in Wood as a right handed set up man. Any rumors like that in your neck of the woods? I thought he showed alot of promise out of the pen.

I can't believe the Cubs wouldn't want to bring him back in any role out of the pen. I am sure it is a money issue. Lining the pockets is the first priority, winning is like last or something.

$11.5 million a year for a closer is a little much, IMO. I didn't expect him to cash in like that.

Good signing despite that though. Reds get some much needed 'pen help.

$11.5 million is like $8 million just a couple years ago or something. Salaries should inflate since revenues are inflating a bit. Either way it's a lot for a 32 year old reliever who is going to be 35/36 at the end of this deal.

They really need pitching though and there just aren't any sure starters out there. At least Cordero will give them some quality innings late in games. They are in the NL Central... who knows how little is needed to tip the balance in that division.

I heard that the Sox may be intersted in Wood as a setup man but they are also supposedly interested in bringing Gagne back (probably won't happen since Gagne wants to close) and that they may want to talk to Pittsburgh about Soloman Torres.

I don't think Wood is back with the Cubs at the start of spring training.

Just a hunch, don't have anything to back that claim up with.
