Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
Turnbow is the likely candidate though Greg Aquino could also compete for the job. Heard a rumor that the Brewers were interested in bringing back Bob Wickman but i don't know if there is any truth to that.Comment

Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
That would be the best thing that the Cubs could do. I really hope the Reds sign him, but I don't see it now, with the Cordero signing. He would be a good closer for the Cubs.NFL: Tennessee Titans
MLB: Cincinnati RedsComment

I think Wood could have that kind of success, we know he has the stuff and i think his days as a starter are over.Comment

Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
Marketing ploy or whatever, Kerry Wood could make a pretty good closer. He could be similar to Eric Gagne. Gagne had a lot of arm troubles early in his career and struggled as a starter but once the Dodgers moved him to the bullpen for a good three seasons he was probably the most dominant closer in the NL.

I can't believe the Cubs wouldn't want to bring him back in any role out of the pen. I am sure it is a money issue. Lining the pockets is the first priority, winning is like last or something.Comment

Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
$11.5 million a year for a closer is a little much, IMO. I didn't expect him to cash in like that.
Good signing despite that though. Reds get some much needed 'pen help.Comment

Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
They really need pitching though and there just aren't any sure starters out there. At least Cordero will give them some quality innings late in games. They are in the NL Central... who knows how little is needed to tip the balance in that division.Comment

Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
I read a couple of days ago that Boston might be interested in Wood as a right handed set up man. Any rumors like that in your neck of the woods? I thought he showed alot of promise out of the pen.

Re: Francisco Cordero to the Reds
I don't think Wood is back with the Cubs at the start of spring training.
Just a hunch, don't have anything to back that claim up with."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."
