New Jays road unis+flashback friday alternate throwbacks

I'm not really feeling the new roads but those powder blues make me cry tears of joy. I think i'm gonna have to buy me one of those jerseys.

    Here's more pics

Ah yes, the powder blues. They remind of the Knoxville K-Jays jerseys back in the day when the Knoxville team was still affiliated with Toronto.

The old logo is either of the newer Jays logos. The Blue Jay with roid amplified wing/arms was the worst. Truly awful. I bet that white panelled cap would look great after fading a bit. The blue is a little strong when new like that. The pull-overs aren't so amazing though. They look like the 70s which weren't exactly a high point in baseball uniforms. Why don't the Jays go back to the jerseys they wore when they pulled down a couple WS titles? They were pretty good IMO, at least compared to the new ones.

The white paneled hats aren't such a problem as you make it out to be. They don't tend to fade THAT much. I don't recall them fading too much back when the Jays wore those caps.

As for the powder blue look, it's a really popular look among Jays fans. You are likely to see as many old school powder blues and/or the white paneled caps as you are to see people wearing the WS era uniforms.

I love the powder blue unis. Thats what the Blue Jays teams in my little league days would use. Everyone always wanted to be on the Blue Jays so they could make their parents have to buy the powder blue pants. lol.

I'm not getting why they decided to make it so the home and away jerseys have completely different fonts for everything. That looks really bad.

I love the new road jerseys. I'll probably pick one up once I'm sure Rios isn't going anywhere.

Re: New Jays road unis+flashback friday alternate throwbacks

                      This is hilarious:
                      Per Uniwatch.com
There was a classic moment during yesterday’s press conference to unveil the Blue Jays’ new road and alternate uniforms. It came when they trotted out old-timers Lloyd Moseby and John Mayberry to model the team’s new 1979 powder blue throwbacks, which will be worn for Friday home games. At one point Moseby was asked what it felt like when he first wore that uniform back in the day. The prop boy must not have been holding the cue cards high enough for Moseby to see, because instead of giving a scripted reply, he chose to ad lib: “The uniform sucked, okay? So we ain’t gonna go there.”
After a moment of nervous laughter from the audience, followed by a beat or two of silence, Moseby added, “’Course, it was big to put on any uniform,” but it was too late — his point had been made, namely that these things were ugly back then and they’re still ugly now. I know many of you have some sort of nostalgic and/or kitschy fascination with this uniform, but come on — it’s totally minor league. With the centered crest and the pullover style, it looks and feels more like a hockey jersey than a baseball jersey. Plus they’ll be wearing it at home, which means we’ll be treated to blue-vs.-gray games — ugh. (Moseby, incidentally, gave some additional choice comments about the design to a Canadian reporter after the unveiling ceremony.)
                      Here is the real article:
TORONTO - Lloyd Moseby wasn't a big fan of the powder-blue road jerseys the Toronto Blue Jays wore when he broke into the majors back in 1980.
                      Actually, he hated them.
So back again wearing the shirt he once loathed for the retro uniform unveiling by the Blue Jays on Monday night, he didn't mince words about his feelings toward the vintage outfit.
''When you came up and put it on, you looked in the mirror 1,000 times and it still don't look right,'' said Moseby, who sported the team's new old look alongside former teammate John Mayberry.
''When you start winning it doesn't matter, you stop looking in the mirror, but when you're losing you've got to look in the mirror and I'll tell you, the powder blue wasn't in.

                        I like em.

I liked the ones from the years Clemens played there, personally.

Psyblast, if I were to look at it objectively those are my favourite uniforms as well except for the blue alternate then again the blue cap with red bill that went with the alternates were really nice.

It was probably the most consistent uniform across the board that the Jays ever had.

I really like the new road jerseys. I think the script "Toronto" they had on them last year felt awkward but the new font looks like it fits a lot better.

everybody seems to go gaga over powder blue jerseys in sports and I'm not that different, but the thing that bothers me the most about the alternates is the centered logo.
