that's an interesting point...i want to see that clip you're talking about.

You're right...i do not want to worry about pushing more than one button at a time.

I guess the best way for a company to handle the whole situation is to just have the option to turn tha auto dive on/off.

If MVP ends up being "all that", though, auto dive will not stop us from buying it and singing its praises.

"Hey, if i choose to dive, then give me a diving animation. Heck, give me four or five of em, but don't tell me the computer is going to decide when I make a great catch. That's not an animation issue, that's a user control issue. "

i couldnt agree more. i wasnt saying the computer couldnt choose what move you did, i just wanted it to be my decision to lay out for the tough grounder rather than the computers choice

What i thought looked sweet is the play that Eric Hinske made in the video posted on this site before. It was a line shot to third by Karim Garcia and he dove to the left. The nice thing about this, is how fast the play was, just like in real life. Games slow down line shots down the line to allow the player to make a good play on the ball. I want to see the hot shots to the hot corner, where a rolen or chavez can make a sweet diving catch. Also some of J.T. Snow's glove work has been forgotten in baseball video games, with the auto dive, he will be a stud over there. Now only if they make it specific to player attributes, i.e. The big difference between the reactions of a J.t.Snow and a Jim Thome on a shot that they have to lay out for. If this auto dive just makes those plays sweet it will be good enough for me.

Lol, all those who are all for the auto diving, have stated they sucked at fielding and always let the ball roll to the wall, well see this is a easy way out for you, but those of us like myself who were very good at fielding its like losing one of our limbs, in high heat 2003 man i robbed so many gappers giles was a vacumn in left, its simple dont take the skill game out of baseball.

I had mvp penciled in but with this im going with wsb2k4, i want to have the control

You think gappers are the problem? That's the easiest scenario I can think of for manual control. Of more concern are hits that go right over an infielder's head (hard to see if you are at the wrong angle) or hits that bounce off the wall and that sort of thing. Sorry but without true stereoscopic depth perception and the perfect camera angle those plays just aren't going to happen as they do in real life.

Add to that the way that it all looks. Manual controls tend to look less realistic. If I had to choose between having it look right and being able to dive manually, I'd choose to have it look right. Manual diving is a small part of the game.

when did I say I had problems with fielding?

I actually found fielding in Roger Clemens Baseball (SNES) and Super Bases Loaded (SNES) easy despite the behind the pitcher view. I have never had trouble with fielding in video games.

I think you are still missin the point. WE CAN STILL FIELD IN MVP. I don't mind the CPU makin a dive if it's part of an ANIMATION TO CATCH THE BALL.
