Odd... I recall sometime two years ago I was thinking of a trade involving getting Rowand. Forget what it was, now.

Not a great move in my eyes. Sabean bringing this guy in to help his business and try to show the casual fans that we're actually going to contend. Seeing that Rowands biggest year was in Philly, a very hitter friendly park. Coming to AT&T will cause his numbers to drop greatly. The fact that he'll be the "biggest" bat in the lineup is also going to kill his production. No more Utley Howard Rollins Burrell... now he has umm Dave Roberts and Randy Winn. I hope to eat crow heh

Agree, but he is still the best hitter on our team! lol Any ways I hope they get some guy with some pop. Or just let the young guys play this year and see what they can do.

Questionable signing by Sabean. The Giants aren't built to win now, yet he goes and signs Rowand. I guess it makes sense though since it is Sabean doing the deals.

Rowand's a nice piece to a team and a great clubhouse guy. I loved him as our no. 6 hitter.

It's not a bad signing. The Giants have the money and he's only 30. They still need to add Matsui and maybe a 3B!

If the Giants land Matsui or Alex Rios it would allow them to trade either Roberts or Winn and there are still quite few teams in the market for Centerfielders.

As for 3B, the Giants are willing to bring Pedro Feliz back on a 1 year contract, may not happen since Feliz is looking for a multi-year deal. If they land another Outfielder they could dangle Roberts/Winn at the White Sox for Joe Crede. The Giants, as well as the Twins, Phillies and Marlins are said to be interested in inviting Corey Koskie to training camp to compete for a 3B job.

MATSUI??? Are you kidding? By the time the Giants give up young prospects for him he'll be completely useless in the outfield and barely topping 15 HRs per year. That's a waste.

I like this signing because they have outstanding defense in center and some heart to a team that lacked it the last 4 years. 60 mil over 5 years isn't as bad as signing Andruw Jones for 500 billion per year or Torii Hunter for 90 mil.

Add him to a lineup with guys like Davis, Schierholtz, Ortmeier, and Frandsen and you have a lineup that goes balls out on every play and at least tries to win.
