I really see your point about the double standard and agree about the hypocrisies and double standards. I guess I just wish baseball could have done this on its own. I have no problem with the players being exposed and all the grievances aired out, I just am not all that into the it having to be the Government to do it.

Re: Clemens and Pettitte called to testify to Congress
Fellas, keep in mind that this is a non-political site. I know it's hard not to discuss the government here, but there are other places that deal with that.
Rod--You are absolutely correct in what you said. I've written a couple of times that we should give Clemens the benefit of the doubt considering he so vehemently denied the allegations when they first came out. I did say the same thing about Bonds too, when his allegations first came out., but I didn't have a forum to write about them then.
I kept thinking, why would Clemens deny so harshly if he was lying, although you just kinda knew he was. After seeing the 60 minutes clip, it's time for us to treat him EXACTLY like Barry Bonds. He is no different; he even gives the same story.
I am actually looking forward to the Hall of Fame Class of 2013 when Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, and Palmiero can all go in together.Formerly Favre4vrComment

you know what? Now that you mention it, who can REALLY get down to the crux of the matter? Meaning what power other than law enforcement, can in essence, MAKE the players talk under oath? Hmmmm

@ favre4vr
Dontcha worry...I wont get deep politically...lol
I agree, in it's basic premise, we ALL (including this author) should give ALL whose names were brought up, the benefit of the doubt. And more importantly, we ALL should ALWAYS remember that in THIS country (i'm not a flag waver, just keeping it real), you are INNOCENT before proven guilty.
The bad thing is, is that with the mass saturation of sports talk radio, cable, the internet, tabloids and many folks not having any common sense at all, that basic rule is meaning less and less and less as the years go by. And that's REAL SAD.

Completely agree Rod. As I've said a few times, media today is all about breaking the story rather than analyzing the story. Well said, man.Formerly Favre4vrComment

Re: Clemens and Pettitte called to testify to Congress
Clemens is so full of it. If he was in fact taking B12 shots up his arse, he would of said that from day one. He first denied taking steroids. Then it took him a month to even mention vitamins. Guess he was searching for a good excuse and this is all he could come up with.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: @ favre4vr
That is exactly what I would do if I were Clemens. Until they bring him before a grand jury, I wouldn't answer anything. They are in essence trying to convict him of something based on the word of another man by having him "answer questions" under oath. 5th avenue all day long.Comment

How stupid does he think the public is? Who takes "secret" vitamins anyway? It's not as if the general public, let alone trainers and nutritionists did not know the value of B12. If I were in the report and all that was going on was me taking b12 shots.... I dont think I would have (a) waited three weeks to mention it, and (b) would not have gone to the lengths he did to avoid speaking about it in public.
It is as if he spent three weeks googling "legal things you can inject into your ***" and this is what he came up with.
It screams - LIAR!!!!Last edited by arichzona; 01-06-2008, 01:14 PM.Comment
