Still a couple of gameplay issues

I am really liking the game overall and am glad I picked it up. Still, there a few things that seem off. First, runners do not score from second on a single as much as they should. It is definitely improved from last year, but still not as good or accurate as last year's HH or WSB games. Secondly, if there is a runner on first and a ground ball hit to either 2nd or 1st, the the CPU fielder almost always throws to second for the force, even if there is obviously no chance to get the runner. I have even seen this with 2 outs where the runner would have been easily nailed at first. Anyone else seeing this?

Yeah, both of those were issues in last years game as well. It seems that neither of them has been fixed.

This is a good point you brought up...in general they have smoothed out the USER baserunning controls to make the manual baserunning more responsive but some of the CPU baserunning still feels a little BASE to BASE-ish. Meaning that the CPU baserunners dont really use enough baseball instinct or foresight when they are on the basepaths. Rather than interpreting the situation, they seem to rely on certain 'TRIGGERS' to advance. I've noticed this on alot of balls hit to the oufield against me that should have resulted in more baseclearing results or at least a more agressive pursuit of the extra base but the runners will seem to 'WAIT' and see on certain situations....For instance, the second you slightly overun the ball, they may start to advance, or if you throw the ball home, they will advance to another base....Which in practicallity seems fine but I think in general, the runners should advance halfway more down the basepaths inbetween the bases like real players do rather than just sitting on a base and waiting for that certain 'TRIGGER' to start them in motion.

This is also one of the reason's the CUTOFF system isnt totally useful like it should be, Quite simply, its easier and more effective at times to simply have your outfielder scoop up the ball deep against the wall and just heave it to a base.....It seems to freeze CPU baserunners from advancing even if they, in theory, should still be advancing due to circumstances. I've seen this happen much too often.

To give another example of the 'triggered without interpretation' running by the cpu at times, A runner on first, the cpu hit one up the first base side past my diving 1st Basemen, the ball wasnt hit sharply enough for my RFer to quickly hall it down, so he had to pursue it down the line....at the time my RFer pick it up, the CPU baserunner was already standing on 2nd waiting when he should have at least made a wide turn and headed halfway toward third......So now I pick it up and fire it down to 3rd, my 3rd basemen boots it and it gets by him but not more then a few feet....So now the CPU baserunner starts running from 2nd and finally gets thrown out easily as my 3rd basemen only needed to move a few feet to pick up the ball and toss it to the SS covering 3rd for the tag.

Im not saying this happens alot but it is clearly something that needs some work next year........

Also, can someone tell me if the baserunners CPU or human AUTO controlled run on the pitch when there's a 3-2 count with 2 outs? I only recall this situation once and I dont think they started in motion.

Re: Still a couple of gameplay issues

Just when I was really enjoying the new basestealing engine, I noticed the old 'Out by a Mile Play' rear its ugly head again.....The one in which the ball beats the runner by about 30 ft and the fielder has to wait so long for the runner to come sliding in that it lifts its glove and the runner is called safe. I really thought that one would be fixed.....oh well, I have only seen it once now but I'll put it in this thread to keep everything together in one post... Hopefully, Acclaim will get a look at this and jot these down for tweaking next year's game.
